PEACEFUL & COMFORTABLE
“The house is spacious, there are beautiful views
of the lake from the living room and master bedroom.“

The location is ideal for summer or winter. (Okemo 2 miles away Buttermilk Falls, golf etc 3 miles)
The quintessentially Vermont town of Ludlow (about 4 miles) offers great local shops, a fully-stocked supermarket, drugstore, hardware store, bike shop, wine shops and fantastic restaurants.

The beautiful and historic town of Woodstock is a short 25 mile drive, and you can stop at the brewery and get a sampler of the different word famous Long Trail ales and maybe enjoy lunch or dinner there right next to at a murmuring brook. . The renowned Weston Playhouse Theater is even closer at just 10 miles. Weston is worth a visit by itself.

Winter - It's virtually impossible to beat this home and this location for great winter activity and relaxation. From the winter wonderland that the lake and surrounding area becomes, to some of the most amazing skiing in all of Vermont, you'll find it all close by. Okemo's newest lodge, Jackson Gore, is just 2 miles away and connects with other Okemo lodges via a network of 121 trails & glades, 667 acres of terrain and a vertical drop of 2,200 feet ... the most in southern Vermont. Okemo is reliable to always have fantastic grooming and is known for “the best in family fun”. If you are an extreme skier and need a challenge go to nearby Killington.

Plan a bike trip along one of the rivers or the chain of lakes on which this home sits, play tennis on the nearby public court or play golf just 3 miles away! Jump in the water at the famous Buttermilk Falls just 3 miles away.
Many of the local mountains offer scenic rides, exciting activities for children and teenagers, and mountain biking.

“We spent the majority of our time swimming, fishing, kayaking, and just hanging out in the backyard.”

“We really enjoyed staying at this very comfortable cottage. It was a very convenient base to go mountain biking, hiking, and of course canoeing was right out the back door.”

Autumn - Sited in one of the lushest areas in Southern Vermont, the fall colors here are nothing short of breath-taking. Family fun

We had a great time. The house is very comfortable, but dated. We had a wonderful time in the water. However, the area directly in front of the property was so filled with leaves and muck, it was hard to enjoy it, until you were further out in the water. For this reason, i would not recommend it for young children.

Home away from home

All that we needed and wanted was at this location! Comfortable, warm, cozy and well stocked. Close to skiing, hiking, restaurants and more. Lots of windows with a view of a lake. What more could we ask for? We felt right at home…

Perfect spot for a family vacation

This was our third trip back to this house, so needless to say we enjoy staying set the property. It has enough rooms and beds to fit us and our extended family comfortably, has everything we want and need (multiple bathrooms, a fil kitchen,) plus there's the bonus of a working fireplace. The location can't be beat. Right on the lake, about 7 minutes from the Jackson Gore base area, and Erin walking distance to the dust house. We love it.

Relaxing, Beautiful Scenery, & History!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at The Lake House! Very relaxing to sit on the deck, have a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy nature's beauty! Great location, close to several great restaurants, and the beautiful & historical Coolidge Homestead only 10 minutes away. Thank you Ursula for sharing your lakefront home with us and for providing all we needed for an enjoyable stay in Ludlow!! The two of us and our little dog had a great time!! Joan, Mark, & Holly :-)

Well appointed comfortable house

This house clearly was used by owners who stayed in it and took good care of it. It was perfect for folks who like to cook together and hang out, with big tables inside and on the deck. It was all one floor so it would work well for anyone who had trouble with stairs. Beds were very comfortable. The recent flooding in Ludlow brought lots of junk into the lake so no one was swimming but we went canoeing. Owners response to communication was fast.

Labor Day Week

House was very comfortable and location was great. We enjoyed exploring the towns! However, table tops in living/great room were greasy; we ran out of paper towel and dishwasher pods. We found that if you pressed firmly on the lid of the soap dispenser of the dishwasher, it would snap into place. We visited the Crowly Cheese Factory, Ben and Jerry's Factory, the Vermont Country Store, a distillery, a winery, a chocolate factory, a farm , and my favorite - the Vermont Tea House. Even the men in our group said they liked it, too! All in all, we had a great week!

Great lake house

This is a wonderful place. There is a fun lake, you can carry kayaks over to an even bigger lake. Lots fun lake adventures for the kids. They loved the little waterfall where they could play and swim. We brought a few kayaks and a canoe and with those we had enough for all of us 9 to go together. The ice cream place next door was fun. The house was well stocked- there were enough towels and paper goods and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook for 9 and more. There is a big table both inside and outside for meals where we could all comfortably sit together. Kids had fun with the floatable water toys. It was great having a ping pong table for when it rained. Overall - really lovely place.

Great House, Great Location!

This house was a perfect find for our trip to Okemo. Just a couple minute drive into the town of Ludlow and to Okemo bases. It was nice to be able to come back to the house after being at Okemo all day, shower, and drive right back to town to eat dinner and stop in the ski shops. Also, stop at the Green Mountain Sugar House for maple creamies, which is less than a minute away. The home is cozy and clean, stocked with everything you need, but might sometimes forget to bring with you. The views of the lake are beautiful, even from just sitting on the couch in the living room looking out the wall of windows. We watched a bald eagle grab its breakfast from the lake and it sat on a tree branch to eat right in front of the house. We want to come back and experience this house in the summer to paddle board on the lake. The host is great, so nice and great communication. Thank you!

Great location to Okemo

Our trip started out a little rocky when we showed up. A mix up of some sorts happened and I wasn’t able to get a hold of the owner for a few hours. However, once we talked the owner was completely apologetic and understanding and immediately rectified the issue. Hey, mistakes happen and we were compensated to make it right. Other than that we had a wonderful time & the house is in an awesome location. Our kids loved going to the sugar house next door for treats and ice cream. Plenty of room for a large party. Lastly, I will say if you are sensitive to fireplace smoke smell be mindful of that as the house smelled like smoke from previous tenant closing the flue when it wasn’t ready to be shut and it never really cleared during our stay. Again not the owners fault but I know some can be very sensitive to that. I know I base where we book off reviews so I try to be honest about things like this. I would definitely stay again as we felt safe and had a fabulous time skiing.

Lovely Lake House

We had a great time at the house, the location is amazing and so close to the red bridge and frosty stand. The kitchen had everything we needed and living area was spacious with great views of the lake. Bedrooms were comfortable too. A few things could be updated, the canoe was pretty old, has a broken seat and hole so it took in water. The small row boat didn't have good oars but thankfully they had a few kayaks and tube for us to use. There are a few obstacles on the floor if you have anyone older with you. My mom and grandmother visited and both tripped a few times over the grate in the living room and transition piece between the kitchen and living room floors. The cellar is good that it has a ping-pong table and a bunch of games but I wouldn't sleep down there as there was a bit of mold and mildew smell on the walls since it's been so damp. Overall location wins, house did the job, we loved our stay, the host was responsive and the days it didn't rain we very much enjoyed the lake. It's great being up on the hill for nice view and no motorboats to worry about swimming with our son.

Nice house, questionable upkeep

I rented Ursula's home for two weeks with two friends and had a great time. With this said, if you are considering renting this home, be sure to ask Ursula many questions beforehand and don’t make any assumptions. There were certain frustrating aspects of our stay including not being altered to the fact that the bedroom master AC mentioned in the listing was not usable, that there were no screens on the windows for bugs, the portable fan in the basement had no propellers, and the waterfront deck was a bit of a safety hazard. Ursula's phone number on the listing was also inaccurate. When I was able to get in contact with Ursula, she was apologetic and seemed to be doing the best she could. Though Ursula's home itself is very nice and the location comfortably out of the way, In light of COVID-19 and how unfit for the summer season Ursula's home was during my visit, I would not discourage renting Ursula’s home but would not recommend it upfront either.

Check in was pretty simple. Cottage was nice. Only issues were was that it wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival due to cleaning lady having an emergency. We found out after the fact and owner refunded the cleaning fee. Other issue was there was supposed to be a dinghy boat which wasn’t there when I arrived. Fishing was good in this lake and the canoes and kayaks were fun. Don’t plan to swim from the property as it’s shallow in the general area and the bottom is mushy. Overall it was a great place

Awful Host

I was shocked by my experience during this stay. I am a frequent VRBO guest and I have never had a host treat me so terribly. Do not become a VRBO host if you are not going to be available by phone, through messaging or when VRBO tries to contact you multiple times. We messaged, called and had VRBO call 7 times to address a lock issue. I was genuinely worried that something terrible had happened to the host because she was so unresponsive for days. She had wonderful reviews prior to my stay so I was really quite worried. We had to leave the house unlocked during our stay as we could not remedy the lock situation. When we did get a hold of her three days into our 4 night stay, we told her we were unable to open the lock box. She stated that she knew there were problems with the lock box for over a month but did not do anything to fix the issue. She asked us to try to fix the lock by replacing the batteries. We tried but were unsuccessful. It appeared it needed a locksmith. She became frustrated at us because we could not fix the lock. Due to lack of communication and the lock issue, VRBO suggested we ask for money back for a portion of our stay. When VRBO asked for a credit on our behalf, the owner made up lies about us leaving a wet mattress, called us idiots, and hung up on VRBO. She did not know I was also on the phone at the time. It was an awful experience.
