Live and Learn

Pros: Morning breakfast buffet was adequate to get the day started off.
Cons: Have the previously reserved rooms ready temperature-wise before the customer checks into it. Temps had been running 100 degrees plus during the days
Location: Easy to access hotel, but there are 2 other hotels within blocks of this location. I will consider using one of the others next time.
Checked in around 10 pm, clerk seemed somewhat distracted/disorganized with customer ahead of myself and with my own check in. When going to my car to get my luggage, the clerk had slipped up to the room to turn the air conditioning on. The room was like an oven. By morning, the room had finally cooled down to an acceptable temperature. When trying to use the room safe, could not get the safe to open up. I went back to the front desk and explained the situation. Both the clerk and someone from hotel maintenance came back to the room to try to assist, using special equipment to try to unlock the safe. They were unsuccessful in opening the safe.

Thanks for bringing the experience you had with our front desk clerk to my attention she is rather new to our facility and I will work with her a little more. I apologize for the safe in your room there must be some sort of malfunction with it so I will get a hold of the company that provides them to our hotel to avoid having this issue in the future. I hope you will give us another chance if you are ever in the area again.

Our stay was disappointing.

Pros: It was in the area of the reunion we were attending.
Cons: See notes about our experience.
Location: We had come back for a high school reunion in a nearby town and to visit relatives, so did not participate in other local activities.
The staff was friendly and pleasant -- we especially appreciated Sheree, our housekeeper who did a good job and was very pleasant, but the towels were very rough and twice they were all not replaced. The soap was VERY small and the last day the two bars were replaced with only one. We would have been happy to hang our towels up and use them again (as the note suggested), but there were no towels bars to hang them on -- only a hook and they would not have dried there. The pillows were very, very lumpy and very uncomfortable. I regretted leaving my own pillow at home. It would have been nice if the one small chair in the room had been a bit more comfortable. The breakfast area was not kept very clean and one morning the tile in front of the food area was dirty and very sticky. It seemed a bad idea to have the breakfast attendant also be responsible for the front desk. People are not able to be two places at once! The people who were responsible were trying very hard to do a good job. We felt bad for them. The phone did not work properly as people tried to leave a message, but there was none. We do not plan on staying there again.

Sorry to hear about your stay. Thanks for bringing these issues to my attention. Generally we do have two desk clerks on staff for our busy days, one for the breakfast room and the other for the front desk. Unfortunately on that particular day we had one call in at the last minute, so that left us short handed. We do have extra guest amenities at the front desk if you are in need of extra. I will also speak to my housekeepers to make sure they leaving two as required. I apologize for the pillows we are in the process of updating them, also we would of been more than happy to switch them out for you so you would of had a better night sleep. Thanks for recognizing Sheree's work she does go above and beyond to make our guest have a pleasant stay. I hope you choose to give us another chance on your next visit to McCook.

Don't stay here

Front desk help was unprofessional. She had to run my card several times, not sure why cause the terminal said "approved". Ended up with a $500 hold on my card for the weekend. After the half hour check in disaster we went to our room which was dirty and unkept, the lock on the outside door was broken, no ice machine. Felt very unsafe. The maid in the room next door was cussing up a storm. We checked out right away. I have heard from the hotel that they have remodeled and the facility has improved. Not sure I'll give it another try though. We found our new favorite place to stay in McCook, Cobblestone. It's a new hotel, very friendly staff and very clean.

The hotel was nice. It was clean and we were pleased with the room. The desk clerk was very helpful and she was super nice. I can't rate the pool as we didn't have time to try it. The only complaint I have is the breakfast wasn't that great. There was the normal stuff of toast, muffins, yogurt, some cereal and waffles, but they also had some eggs and sausage. I don't like sausage, but love eggs, but these were flavorless and rubbery and I didn't care for the coffee. But aside from the breakfast, we were pleased with the hotel and would stay there again!

The rooms were clean. I wish they would replace the pillows. The breakfast was OK. The jets in the hot tub were overwhelming.

Pros: The staff was really nice and extremely helpful. I had a bunch of gear to bring inside and the lady was very kind to move me to the floor level.
Cons: Only improvement I would make is please have some hot coffee in the lobby. Both times I tried to get coffee it was cold.
Location: It's Nebraska...there is nothing nearby!
It's an inexpensive hotel out in the middle of nowhere. Beats sleeping in your car in the frigid cold! I chose it because I was hunting in the area. The walls and floors are pretty thin but as long as there aren't any yahoos or some guy's hearing aid doesn't lose its batteries so he has to play the TV at max volume, it should be good. I want to comment that the staff was very pleasant to me which was very appreciated. On arrival I was very tired and grumpy but they were very nice anyway. Thank you!

The room was dirty. Empty water bottles left from previous guest. Candy on the floor from previous guest. Dirty shower.
