Paid for our stay via Expedia/paypal. Arrived and was asked to provide a credit card for incidentals. This is standard, and although we do not travel with credit cards, we had brought our "travel" card with the $25 they had "held" at 2 prior AVID stays reserved on it. When the card declined, we were told the hold would be for $50. When I explained we only had $25 available, as that is what the prior hold had been, the clerk told us we could not check in. We offered $100 cash to hold for deposit and he said NO CASH. I then explained we had come 5 hours to visit OKC and had no where else to stay. We had our 5 year old grand daughter with us, and were exhausted, as we had been at the zoo all day. He basically told us to move on. He said you paid Expedia, not me. When I asked to speak to his superior... to beg at this point, I was in tears and truly panicking, I was told..I AM the manager. Well the kindness of strangers saved us. A couple in the lobby obviously shocked at the clerks rude and heartless behavior told him whatever the problem-they would pay. They handed him their credit card and allowed him to put the hold on their card. We offered to pay the cash to them and they adamantly refused. Sadly the grace of strangers was 10 times that of a small man with a tiny bit of power at the AVIDS front desk. Shame on you AVID, Yukon. Never at any prior stay at an AVID/IHG property have we been treated so cruelly- and we stay frequently and have never had an issue.
