Gîte des Chaises Basses - Typical house in Corrèze in absolute calm

In a remarkable natural environment alternating with vast hilly meadows and oak and chestnut woods, the Gîte des Chaises Basses is a beautiful and old Corrèze house, entirely independent.
The whole house is on the ground floor, opening onto the large enclosed garden with trees of 2000m2..

- Living room of 38 m2 in stone and exposed beams with the large traditional "cantou" fireplace,
- Kitchen - dining room of 27 m2,
- 3 bedrooms of 14, 13 and 9 m2,
- Bathroom,
- Shower room with shower,
- separate WC - corridor,
- Courtyard - shed - parking space,

Access by a dead end road. Absolute calm. Really in the countryside. No vis-à-vis.
At night, away from any light pollution, the starry skies are spectacular!

The Gîte des Chaises Basses is very well equipped for the comfort of 6 people.
Garden furniture, bbq, parasol, TV, video, tourist documentation, children's toys, WIFI, ...

Chaises Basses
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage in Chaises Basses. It’s a beautiful, old and rustic farmhouse that was lovingly restored, with many original features including a very large fireplace. It’s a perfect place if you are looking to hide away somewhere for a little while. It is located in Corrèze, in a very quiet area, but you are not too far from other busier areas like Dordogne. You will find everything you need in terms of food, wine, etc. within a short distance by car. Pierre-Gilles was happy to answer our questions and to give us recommendations; he could not have been a more welcoming host.

A traditional farmhouse dating from the 1780s. It has been very nicely restored in the past.
The house is equipped with modern facilities which work well. There is a fully functioning kitchen including dishwasher. The bathroom and toilet fittings are reasonably modern and the walk in shower works well There was ample hot water. The only omission was a dryer for the washing. Unfortunately we had some wet weather and it was difficult to dry clothes inside with only a folding rack. The wooden floors are original ,somewhat undulating and creak a bit,but this is rather natural for such an old building which has been sympathetically restored. Ther are electric wall heaters which mainly work and for cold weather one can have a log fire in the huge original fireplace. Mobile telephone reception was rather marginal. There is Internet connection which worked reasonably but not in all rooms. There is good car parking at the side of the house. A large lawn can be enjoyed in good weather behind the house. A working farm goes on nearbye and sight and sound of the cows is pleasant. The young farmer just up the lane is very friendly and speaks English. Our host Monsieur de Lupel went out of his way to be helpful and is a very friendly man. We were sorry that his wife was away and M de Lupel had to also leave before our tenure finished,we should have liked to talk more with him in our limited French The location is very rural in pretty undulating countryside with lots of small villages in the area. Objat and Vigeois are the local towns about 15 or 20 mins away. Further away there is very pleasant upland country areas and the Dordogne valley is very attractive. Brive La Gaillarde is a city which has been well restored but otherwise not so remarkable. A stay at Les Chaises Basses would appeal to visitors seeking traditional rural France without a heavy tourist presence.

Beautifully peaceful and friendly
Had a wonderful two week stay with our dogs. Peace and quiet and several walks directly from the house, lots of wildlife, hares and even a beaver. House is spacious with lots of character, great bath and shower with plenty of hot water and everything we needed in the kitchen. Lovely garden and view across a small valley, several supermarkets within an enjoyable 20min drive. Pierre-Gilles and his wife were great hosts, living a few hundred yards up the lane and speaking English, and very friendly and helpful, but left us alone to enjoy out holiday. Great experience of rural France, recommended if you want to get away from it all

Rustic charm
This Is a typical 18th century country house - it's very quiet. The owner lives down the road and is very helpful. Everything needed is provided. There are some pretty villages in the area. The closest shopping and restaurants are at least 15 min. away, so it's remote, but very charming.

We enjoyed our stay here so much that I would rather keep this house a secret! But that would be not nice to the owner, who is very friendly and helpfull. The house is spacious but cosy, with the large fireplace as eyecatcher. Kitchen is large enough for 10, with everything you need, including a large fridge with freezer. The big garden is lovely with lots of shade and BBQ. Overall the house is much larger than it looks in the pics. The location is perfect for those who love to be surrounded by lush nature: peaceful and green, with the comforting company of some Limousin cows. Enjoy the silence!

Excellente prestation !!!
