Not as good as expected
First let me say we do not frequent B&Bs. We had a trip planned to NH for leaf peeping and a B&B felt like the right vibe for the trip. The Glynn House is nice and Glenn, the proprietor is great. That said, there are some things that drive our rating.
Ashland is an unremarkable town and the drive up to The Glynn House is a bit sketchy. Definitely not a charming little town to say the least. We certainly were not inclined to walk around the area of the property. The property overall is cute but also peculiar. We stayed in the Grant room even though we booked the Harrison room. This was technically an upgrade but unfortunately the gas fireplace was not working nor was the heat. It was chilly in the room and Glenn remedied the heat (not the fireplace) before we got back for a our second night. The other thing that’s just a bit weird is that the shower is in the bedroom. This is mentioned in other reviews. It definitely gets steamy in the room in the morning because of this. All this combined with the rust on the shower curtain hangers, dirty cleaning cloth left in the bathroom, and dirty windows led to our review.
Breakfast is a really nice treat with all the hot selections (about 10) although the coffee is really not very good. Breakfast is only from 8:30-9:30 so if you are leaving early or aren’t an early riser your are in trouble (unless you request a to go breakfast the night before).
We had high expectations but ended up leaving underwhelmed.
