It's no surprise Rico is a perennial favourite with with international and local vacationers alike; the region is criss-crossed with terrific natural and man-made attractions. Mountain Village, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southwest, and Telluride, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southwest of Rico are worth visiting if you're keen to explore this region further.
When it's time to explore beyond Rico, why not visit the nearest regional area. Durango sits 30 miles (48 kilometers) away and is home to visitor attractions including Durango Mountain Resort, Hillcrest Golf Club and Durango Arts Center. Purgatory Ski Area, Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Fort Lewis College are just a sample of the other interesting sights that should be included on every visitor's itinerary.
An excellent way to truly appreciate an area is by learning about its history. Take a trip to the archeological sites while you are here.
There are some great high-adrenaline adventures to be savoured. Around Southwest Colorado. Try rock climbing or hiking to get your adrenaline pumping. If you are happy to head outdoors in winter, Southwest Colorado may just be an excellent place to go. This area offers some terrific opportunities for cross-country skiing and skiing.
