Pros: Historical......exactly what you would want in Savannah
Location: Easy walk to everything
Everyone was very friendly, knowledgable and courteous. Very beautiful historic inn, exactly what you would want and expect in Savannah. Breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese, and evening coffee and dessert exceeded our expectations. Would definitely recommend to anyone going to Savannah. Looking forward to going back.

Two Nights in Historic Savannah

Posted Nov 9, 2015
Pros: We did like the location, evening reception, and breakfast.
Cons: We discovered dirty clothing in a drawer that was left behind by previous occupants. Blinds were broken and we had to cover with a sheet for privacy.
Location: Savannah riverfront is a 15 minute walk away. We also ate at Six Pence Pub and it was delicious.
Savannah is a beautiful city. The Eliza Thompson House is a historic hotel. Overall, our stay was very nice. However, there were a few problems with our room that are inexcusable. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Location, location, location.

Pros: Casual, warm, sociable, and just perfectly located.
Cons: Rooms could be a tad larger, beds a bit lower.
At the heart of the most beautifully walkable and welcoming city imaginable.

Lovely gracious inn in a great location

Posted Oct 24, 2015
Pros: The regular opportunities to interact with other guests.
Cons: It's a very small thing but it would be nicer if the jams and marmalades were better quality - home made rather than commercially packaged.
Location: Eliza Thompson House is located in one of the prettiest historic streets in Savannah, easy walking distance to the Riverfront walk and squares.
We were warmly welcomed and treated like visiting VIP's. Our room was comfortable, quiet, clean and elegant. The bathroom was small but functional. The breakfast, wine and cheese and evening dessert and coffee were excellent. All of them gave the chance to interact with other guests and exchange travel experiences. The staff were helpful and pleasant without being intrusive.

Right At Home in Savannah

Posted Oct 22, 2015
Lovely stay here! Upon arrival before we were even out of the car, we were met in the street and our bags were whisked away and a parking pass placed on our dash. Then we were given a brief tour of the house and then directly to our room. Wine and appetizers are served daily from 5:30-7:00. Then dessert and sherry from 8-9pm. Breakfast is advertised as continental but it is a full hot breakfast-a delicious one of course. We'd stay here again in a minute!

Don't be fooled by the pictures...

Posted Oct 4, 2015
Pros: Reception, dessert, breakfast, and location.
Cons: Staff could be more sensitive to sleeping guests, rooms could be cleaned better and INFORM people they are paying for the parking pass...
Location: Close to everything in downtown Savannah
So disappointed. The guy who checked me in seemed to want to be difficult and argue with me about everything (said it was hot he insisted it was cool, said perhaps it was the humidity that made it feel hot to me, told me it was not humid), etc. Wasn't told I would be charged for parking, just asked if I had a car and told to put a slip of paper in my window. My room was downstairs in the courtyard, right next to the buffet, so I heard them set up every morning (6:20ish), heard guests talking and dragging chairs/tables. Staff seemed oblivious to the fact that someone might be trying to sleep and were talking/yelling back and forth, so hard to sleep in! Room was tiny and could use a thorough cleaning. Drunk guests in the courtyard, had to call the front desk close to midnight to ask that they talk to them, so I could sleep. Reception/dessert/breakfast are a plus. And, don't expect the "hop on, hop off" trolley to stop for you unless you call and ask them to pick you up at the hotel. 2 very rude drivers would not pick me up even though I was at the clearly marked trolley stop. No southern hospitality here - very disappointed.

Historic hotel

Posted Sep 22, 2015
Cons: Drawbacks were the small small bathroom. But we only stayed one night so was OK. And the parking can be an issue. Only metered parking
In a great location for all the historic sights. Lots of ambience. Staff goes out of their way to get you settled and comfortable. Starting with wine and cheese in afternoon, then dessert and coffee in the evening. Wow.
