Nice hotel overlooking harbour

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are very friendly. Location is great - with views of the harbour and close to shopping on Water St. A really nice experience!

We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. One of the Murray Premises Hotel's key features is our great location, and I am glad to hear that we served as a home base for your visit to St. John's. Just about anything is within walking distance downtown in terms of shopping, nightlife, and history! We appreciate your feedback.

Easy walk to St John's activities.

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Pros: Loved the terrific bathroom and accessibility to downtown St. John's
Check in was easy, with friendly staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor, not much of a view, but a terrific bathroom, with whirlpool tub and comfortable bed. We walked about looking at the cruise ship and other ships in the harbor, at George St pubs, and had a great dinner at a restaurant on Water St. Included breakfast was remarkable for the variety of baked goods and variety of fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, plums, as well as the ubiquitous banana).

Nice hotel but has problems

Posted Jul 13, 2016
I've stayed at the Murray Premises before and had an excellent time. Located downtown and close to all the main attractions. My problem was that I checked in late and had a room where the window was almost non-existant and the AC unit had a fan that clunked all night long. Hit the cover of the ceiling mount to recenter it - but it always came back to clanking. In the morning all I got from the staff when I brought it up was a shrug...... Totally unresponsive and I didn't expect that from a "high end boutique" hotel. So had a crappy sleep........ I've had wonderful service on other stays - just check the AC before accepting the rooom.

Old and antiquated, needs a facelift

Posted Jul 11, 2016
Pros: The location
Cons: A complete facelift is needed. Carpets and bedding are worn, issues with the toilets, doors opening and problems with heating and AC, hot or cold
Although the location is excellent and what seemed like a nice outdoor patio I was surprised at how old and antiquated the hotel itself was. It looked like it hadn't had a facelift since the late 70's. The toilet in the room was very loud and clanking and the door to the bathroom was difficult to open. The elevator made so much noise I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to my floor and it is also very small for two people and luggage. We stayed at the Delta the week before and I would go there over this hotel.

Missing final touches

Posted Jul 9, 2016
The hotel did offer free breakfast with the booking . There was room service for lunch and suppers. But no room service for breakfast according to the menu. Would be nice for breakfast . Elevator don't go to the top floor so had to get out on the third floor to go to the fourth and lug suite case to the top floor up flight of stairs. Time for a update also but room was clean. Overall I paid 235 taxes in for the room it pricy for sure .

One of my favorite hotels but.....

Posted Jun 27, 2016
I've stayed at this hotel on 3 other occasions and it was a pleasant experience each time however this time was not. We were located on the first floor next to an elevator that you can hear going up and down all night but the worst thing was the floor creaks from the room above. It started at 7 in the morning and lasted all morning until we finally forced ourselves out of bed around 9. We like to enjoy sleeping in when we stay at hotels because with 2 small kids at home there is not many opportunities to do so. We complained to the front desk when we were checking out, they explained that the creaky floors were a result of the old building and there wasn't much they could do about it. He did try do compensate us but since we booked through Expedia there wasn't much he could do.

Great location

Posted Jun 15, 2016
Pros: Easy parking, close to restaurants and stores and harbour across the road. Unique restored building and room with character
Cons: The bed and bedding were less than comfortable, mattress was feeling old and lumpy and bedding was very heavy. Other features of the room were great
Location: Good location to walk the downtown, shop etc.
Great boutique hotel in super downtown harbour. We wanted a place to stay that was walkable to the core downtown. Also this location was easy to drive to/from for area attractions. The building is a restored warehouse commercial business steps from the harbour. It has charm and does not feel large and impersonal. Staff were great and breakfast was included.

Perfect for a weekene getaway

Posted Feb 26, 2016 on Hotels
Decided to spend the night in St. John's for my boyfriend's birthday. This is our second stay here and we have yet to be disappointed! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Stayed in 2 different types of rooms and both were cozy and clean. The wood beams were added character making this hotel unique compared to other hotelw. Being close to downtown made it easy to walk to restaurants, shopping and boat tours. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Murray Premises

Posted Jan 4, 2016
Pros: The Murray Premises is a clean , comfortable and affordable hotel. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and nicely sized.
Cons: More towels in the room and safety rails for the high Jacuzzi tub would be great. Close to downtown and lots of parking.
Location: Lots of night life and close to Mile one Stadium.
Stayed again for a night show at the Mile One Stadium.
