Same menu for the entire stay, with not much variation... so-so snacks. The chicken nuggets and hamburgers were awful. Room had no view- just looking at palm trees. Did not feel welcomed at all. Everyone seemed to have a chip on their shoulder...

Staff was less than friendly. Food was terrible. An animal pooped on the sidewalk and the poop stayed there the entire stay. I would never stay in this place again. The beach was great, however it is public. Very poorly managed.

The good: Nice big pool. Nice beach Great clean property Nice big room. We had a 4th floor room with 2 levels so it was spacious and great view of the countryside. Excellent staff. The bad: Food was terrible. We stopped going except for breakfast by the 2nd day. Breakfast thankfully had a fresh omelette, and the italian restaurant was decent. Otherwise we simply couldn't stomach the buffet. Very few choices which didn't change and badly cooked. Thats just not right when you are paying $200 extra a night and could so easily be much better. I felt sorry for the kids that were there as the options were non-existant. They had a beach grill where you could get a hamburger cooked fresh a few hours per day, otherwise the food there looked like it had been there for days and nobody was eating it. The bed was terrible. Old and hard. straight sheet for a bottom sheet so was crumpled up within an hour. Pillows were different sizes and makes but either lumpy or flat. A shame really as they could make this place top notch without much investment.

Breakfast was good, meals were fine. Pool was clean and no issues getting lounge chairs as most people booked as needed. Liked beach towel exchange service though hours could be a bit longer. Staff friendly. Very safe.

I recently stayed at Occidental Tamarindo and overall found the experience underwhelming. There were a few positives. The resort is close to the beach, making it easy to enjoy the ocean. The pool area was nice, and it was never difficult to find a chair. The resort is smaller, so it didn’t feel overly crowded. We also arrived a few hours early, and staff allowed us to store our bags and use the pool and restaurant while we waited, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The food was bland and repetitive, with limited options at the buffet. The policy of only being able to book à la carte restaurants once every three days felt very restrictive. The room had several issues. The shower flooded the bathroom floor due to overspray, and the drain did not work properly. Staff cleaned the water but never fixed the drain. On top of that, even with the AC on full power, the room stayed very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in. Service around the pool was lacking. There’s no swim-up bar, and getting drinks meant waiting in line. No staff came around to take orders. The gym also needed maintenance, as several machines were not working properly. Overall, I was not impressed. I would rate it 2 stars and would not return.

The layout of the property was nice. The food, was ok, buffet could have used some different options day to day. The cook and serving staff were awesome. Unfortunately the only thing I found that I didn’t like was the bar staff. Long waits for drinks because they were “busy” with the younger girls and they never stirred drinks after making them. Also were very stingy on the pours, I am used to free pours at an all inclusive and these staff were using jiggers to pour an ounce. Overall, the resort was what i was looking for.

The room was excellent for us. We loved the ground-floor location that was convenient to the pool and resort center. The room was nicely cleaned daily, and a few refreshments were provided each day, even more as requested. The property location with the beach and Pacific waves is marvelous! The estuary and pristine sandy beach to the south is great for walks and hanging out, and the sunset view across the lava rock shoreline toward Tamarindo is breathtaking. The pool also - it is beautiful and perfect for spending hours of reading, or fun entertainment, or just drinking and laughing. The entertainment crew is great, as is the bar/service staff at the pool!

Excellent hotel. Very clean. Pleasant staff. Jusy was so helpful when booking excursions and transportation to and from the airport. The bartending staff was great. Super friendly. The spa was very nice and Mila gave me one of the best relaxation massages I have ever had.
Gorgeous beach. Easy to walk for miles
The pool was great. It was kept very clean by the staff.

The room was ok. A bit dated. Supplies like towels, coffee in room was not always refilled. We were on the ground floor, our drapes didnt close. Not much privacy. Service was not the best. Food was ok. Some staff were excellent others not. Overrated for the price.

Nice resort. Can tell it’s been around awhile but still clean and would stay here again. Food is good not great but fine for the 3 days we were there. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not to pricey for an all inclusive.

Most everything was up to par; the facility is beautiful, rooms were clean and well-appointed, immediate access to the beach, bar service was quick and friendly, a nice pool area and amenities, the usual entertainment. However, the food from the main kitchen was just average. Fresh fruit and veggies, the side stations for eggs (am) and pastas, and the dessert bar; all excellent. But sorry to say that some of the main dishes from the kitchen were just ok.
