A unique hospitality experience. Old World Charm two blocks from the White House! Loved every aspect. This is not a modern sterile place, you will sense history and old charm everywhere you look.

I booked this for one evening as the rest of my stay was booked @ the Ritz Georgetown. Exterior of hotel is stunning and the lobby is what you would expect from an older St Regis. Upon check in, I was told I had been upgraded. I had already booked a King room. There was a line to check in as only one person at the desk. Upon entering, it was a small double room. I had to bring my belongings back downstairs, wait in line for other people to check in to then let the concierge know of the mistake. He then reissued keys to another room. Upon entering that room, there was no upgrade, it was the room I had booked online. After settling in, I showered (pressure was wonderful). I went to move a hand towel from the sink and realized it was sopping wet. When I picked it up, it was full of toilet paper covered in mouth wash. I was really grossed out and upon further inspection realized there were wrappers in the bathroom trash can. I called down to the front and no one seemed that concerned or grossed out. I asked multiple times if the room had been cleaned as I was then worried about the bed. Didn't offer to move me to another room and were pretty cavalier. Said maybe turn down service had accidentally left it....They sent a house keeper up who was very kind but 30 mins later. She cleaned the bathroom and then told me to check the bed to make sure it was clean. The whole experience left me feeling really grossed out. Needless to say, I was happy to have not booked my entire trip there.

The hotel is very historical and beautiful; however, it needs updating. The pillows were too big and the carpets made my allergies worse. The staff was very nice at reception and our stay was pleasant I just wish it was a little more modern. We also had afternoon tea at the hotel. The young lady that helped us, Gaby, was very dry. We asked for a second table because everyone else that was already seated had larger ones or two small tables and she immediately declined. We asked to switch to a larger table that was open and she also said no because it was reserved. We stayed an extra hour and the table we asked to be moved to never became occupied. Since we paid $200 for tea, we expected a little extra effort. This was our first and last time at this hotel.

Great location and staff. The rooms are nice but a little dated and our room had one shower towel with rip in it and another with mascara on it. We were put on a very long hold when requesting to speak to the manager but it was eventually resolved by getting new towels. Overall the property is a beautiful but slightly dated.
