Stroll along this scenic walking loop at your own pace to enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the forest and the rugged setting of the coastline.

The Wild Pacific Trail is a 5.5-mile (8.8-kilometer) walking path with stunning views of the ocean. It meanders in and out of areas of picturesque woodland before taking you on a stroll along Brown’s Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Be inspired by the extraordinary power of nature as you watch the mighty ocean waves crash against the jagged coastline.

The trail is relatively easy so it is suitable for the entire family. Take the 1.6-mile (2.6-kilometer) Lighthouse Loop if you have limited time. Pass sections of rainforest before reaching Brown’s Beach with a spectacular view of the Amphitrite Lighthouse. Make sure to stay on the trail, since some of the rocks are slippery and loose. Take breaks at the viewpoints dotted around the trail and relax on the benches provided.

Venture off to the Terrace Beach Interpretive Trail at the site of an ancient canoe beach and midden used by the First Nations people. If you have more time, continue on the path to the Big Beach section. Amble along the pebbly beach and collect shells as souvenirs. Enjoy a picnic with your family against the awe-inspiring backdrop of a rugged coastline and ocean waves.

Stay until evening to watch the sun set over the ocean. Many travelers come to this area in the winter to watch storms brewing on the horizon. Be alert to see interesting wildlife, such as eagles.

Discover the Artist Loop part of the trail, which consists of a man-made path that slithers around trees that are bent out of shape by storms. Signs along the trail teach visitors about the natural features around them.

The Wild Pacific Trail is located just outside Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Drive south for around 40 minutes from Tofino to reach the scenic trail. Find the parking lot near Coast Guard Road at the beginning of the loop.
