This bell tower is the symbol of the city. Back in the days, it was sticked to the cathedral across the square (Sint Maarten) but a tornado destroyed the unfinished nave, leaving the tower standing apart. If you're a curious person, look at the square's pavement and you'll see the marks of the former pillars.
