Top Abergorlech Hotel Reviews

The Cawdor

The Cawdor

8/10 Good
"Our room (Roach 2) was spacious. There is no air-con but there was a good portable fan. Plenty of wardrobe space. The bed was huge and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious, but the shower was above the bath and the bath is high. There really should be some grab rails to aid entering and exiting the shower safely. This would be an issue if guests had even mild mobility problems. There are NO shelves at all in the bathroom - nowhere to place toiletries or wash bag. A small shelf would make all the difference. The mirror is big but there is no lighting above the sink. A lamp would again make a difference. Breakfast was lovely - plentiful and hot. The breakfast room is spacious and nicely decorated. Bar service was also good and the coffees were nice. We booked for 2 nights and were disappointed that our room was not serviced after the first night despite leaving the 'please make up room' sign on the door. We were late arriving back (after 10pm) and I had to go to reception to ask for fresh towels. When checking out, we were asked if everything was ok and I mentioned that the room had not been serviced but to be honest, the receptionist only muttered that housekeeping would be informed to be more careful. No real apology. There is a good sized car park but access from car park to hotel is quite challenging. Need better lighting at night too. Summary - nice hotel with character. Small tweaks to bathroom would make a huge difference."

"Period property with unusual layout. Excellent cooked breakfast plus dinner menu. Plenty of parking on site. Very helpful Landlady. Wifi didn't during our stay but apparently a network engineer is booked to redo the whole set up."

"Comfortable stay, very central to town. Would like to thank Lucy for our efficient check-in, as room wasn't ready she had my phone number and informed me when my room was ready as we wanted to explore the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a beautiful hot breakfast in the morning."

The Fountain Inn

The Fountain Inn

"Enjoyable stay, great location and lovely pub. We would definitely stay again, the only niggles for us were the mattress could have been better quality (we like a good mattress) and the room being not so roomy meant that the unit with tea/coffee etc was quite crammed with the fan on it also so made it a bit of a chore space wise for making a cuppa. The breakfast was excellent quality my husband had the full breakfast which was lovely, good quality ingredients and plenty of it, the only bug bear there was the toast was cold and as I only have toast and jam, I would have enjoyed the toast hot. All in all it was a lovely place, really friendly staff, clean and welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay."

"We received a warm welcome from the host, with drinks served in the garden on arrival. Our room was very comfortable and well presented to a high standard. Breakfast on both days had a wide choice and was delicious with friendly service throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this country house hotel to anyone staying in this lovely part of Wales."
