The home offers 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main level, along with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms on the upper level. Our office is right here in the Powderhorn area with on-site maintenance, housekeeping, and reservation staff ready to help. You’ll always have support nearby, and if you’d rather not stop in, we’re also available 24/7 by call, message, or email. Whatever works best for you, we’re here to make your stay as smooth and stress-free as possible. Nestled in the heart of the Upper Peninsula, the Powderhorn area is a true four-season destination. The neighborhood also offers great local spots to enjoy—grab a hearty meal at Iron Nugget, sip a coffee at Copper Cup, try out a beer at Cold Iron Brewery or try a local favorite at Pit Stop, Uptown Café, or Club 28\. You’ll also find shopping, live music, and seasonal festivals nearby that bring the community to life. The main level features an open-concept kitchen, dining area, and living room. The living room is designed for relaxation, with a cozy leather sectional, a sunken seating area around a large gas fireplace, and soaring high ceilings. Patio doors from the dining area lead out to a slope-side deck with a gas grill, where you can enjoy meals and take in the mountain views. Large windows throughout the space bring in plenty of natural light, brightening the entire home. Additional features include a 4-person whirlpool, a sauna, and a spacious heated entry/boot room, perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes. Wi-Fi is available throughout the home for your convenience, with access to a Smart TV with over 25 channels and streaming services. Matterhorn is located along the Shotgun Trail, offering easy access to Lifts #8 and #9, making it a perfect base for skiing and snowboarding. Cable TV is also provided for your entertainment. The side of the ski ara that supports Ski In and Ski Out is closed so you are basically at an off site / off resort cabin in the woods. We spoke to Big Powderhorn and it sounds like they don't open this side of the resort in recent years and it sounds like cost cutting / operating cost savings. The rooms were nice. Facilities were good. However, the biggest drawback was that this house did not have air conditioning. It was so hot in the middle of the summer and mot of the occupants of the upper floor bedrooms could not sleep even after opening the windows. It looked like this house was not equipped with air conditioning at all. The front door opening was also a problem. It did not open even after we entered the security code. Then we had to call the property maintenance person and he informed us to rotate the lock handle upwards and then it opened. Please mention it to the next guests. There were no surprises about the interior of the house as it was clean and met her expectations. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. All bedrooms were as described in the TV and fireplace sitting areas worked well. There was a fire pit in the backyard which was nice considering the high temperature was about 64 during the week. One complaint that we had was at the grill was completely not functional due to rust and the propane tank was empty. The house was Located close to a Walmart as well as local grocery store. Both the Black River as well as Presque Isle rivers were also very close and provide an excellent diversion for us with multiple waterfalls as well as Lake superior. We had 12 people and loved that each room had its own bathroom.
