Reuben Dimond House, Renovated Historic Farmhouse in the Capital, Concord, NH.

The Reuben Dimond house is located in Concord, New Hampshire; a central location with easy access to a major state highway. Day trippers will find this location convenient to jump onto the highway and head north or south, or to simply wander the back roads and enjoy the sights of New England.
Named after its original owner, this recently renovated farmhouse, circa 1767, sits at the end of a dead-end road surrounded by farm and conservation land. It provides privacy for a quiet rural get-a-way while located only minutes from Concord's Main Street and the State Capital. It provides the feel of the country while being only a few minutes from a busy and vibrant New England city. Downtown Concord offers excellent dinning, theater, cinema, shopping and more.

Step out the front door to find just one of the city's-maintained trails for hiking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, or just communing with nature. Concord has over 85 miles of dedicated hiking and biking trail available to residents and visitors alike.

The groomed 1.4-acre farmhouse lot provides excellent space for all your outdoor recreational activities, such as, wiffleball, badminton, volleyball, croquet, horseshoes, etc. While sitting next to the fire pit, you may encounter deer, turkeys, and other native animals and birds.

Just up the road, at the top of the hill, is a working farm (Rossview Farm). If you catch them in season, you can pick your own strawberries, blueberries, or pumpkins. During late February and early March, you can sample maple syrup hot from the evaporator. In December it's cut your own Christmas tree time.

The kitchen is well equipped for enjoying your morning coffee or tea and cooking and baking on inside days. The historic summer kitchen now includes a reading nook and laundry closet. During the winter months a fire may be built in the wood stove to allow for a comfortable and relaxing read or to simply dry out your damp clothes from the outdoors activities.

The house was built prior to the revolutionary war. Its exterior walls are of plank construction (i.e., 3-inch-thick pine planks 15 to 24 inches wide and 8 foot tall. This was possible when sawmills became available and log cabins were no longer the only possibility.

A couple of unique items must also be noted. The staircase leading to the second floor is described as a "fan staircase" because it is narrow at the bottom and fans out to be very wide at the top. It is doubtful you have seen a like staircase.
The other notable item is the small 8-inch by 8-inch window located at the top corner of the southwest wall of the main house. It is reported this window was an Indian look out. When there was notice of a raiding party traveling down the Merrimack River, the family would hide in the crawl space and watch until the danger was over. The window also provided light into the crawl space. Remember, there was no electricity in 1767.

What we love about this property is the quiet. Most nights you can sit outside and hear nothing but the wind through the trees and the crackling of the fire in the fire pit.

Just Beautiful
Lynn has done a fantastic job renovating an old house into a comfortable home - there are books documenting the process. The bathroom and appliances are all new. It's just comfortable living in a secluded area, but only minutes to downtown Concord. Will definitely stay again next time We're in the area.

Peaceful & Quiet
Our family had a busy weekend scheduled for our daughter’s softball tournament in Concord, and wanted a quiet place to rest and recharge in between games. This place exceeded our expectations - I wish we’d had more time to spend at the property, it was beautiful and super quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Choice!
Staying at the Reuben Diamond house was a perfect choice for our trip to New Hampshire. The house perfectly captured the essence of New England and all it had to offer. The combination of it’s historic charm and modern comfort is tough to achieve, but our host did it perfectly! Beds were very comfortable, place was absolutely spotless, and the grounds made for a beautiful, quiet getaway. 5 stars all around.

Wonderful Historic Property
We had the most wonderful Christmas in this historic home. Everything was perfect and the host thought of everything we might need. The location was secluded, but not too far away from the city. Loved the nature trails and the beautiful landscape surrounding the home. It was the perfect reconnect for our family. The biggest plus was the distance - everything was just about an hour away - coast, mountains, Vermont, Boston - LOVED IT - it was the perfect hub.

Comfy old home with Charm.
We really did feel comfortable in this old house. My little one was very scared of the 2 pictures in the living room, but I loved them. The quietness was amazing, it’s winter so not much in the yard to do during this time. The only thing I would change are the beds. The beds are very small here, my husband is 6’4 and had to sleep diagonally, so if your tall it will be uncomfortable. The owner was so nice and I hope they keep renting it, because the house can be an amazing little gem here in New Hampshire. Just need to get a few big garbage cans, the little ones were hard to deal with. The towels in the bathroom were amazing, love the big comfy towels. The tea kettle was perfect, and the kids plates and utensils were perfect. You will enjoy your stay and be in awwww of the classic new feel plus the old feel and charm of this very old home. If you go in the winter, the house heating system is the best I’ve ever used in any home. When you walk into the house it’s amazing, it’s the original part of the house and I loved that. I’m so blessed to get to stay here and that I found this place. It was truly and experience for the 3 of us Thank you!

Lovely Historical Home
The owner has put lots of work in to make this homey with modern amenities for the kitchen and bath while keeping the charm of the historic aspects of the rest of the house. Comfortable bedrooms and cozy living areas which keep the feel of a historic home. The property is quite picturesque with a large area to spend time in during the day. A very friendly welcome to the property as well. I’d recommend anyone staying here who wants more than the standard vacation experience.

Perfect New England Vacation Hub
This was our family’s first trip to New England and we used this home as a central hub to visit stops in Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and, of course, New Hampshire. It was a perfect location to make easy day trips for all of these states! The house itself was also perfect. The renovations that Lynn has done make it a perfect mixture of modern conveniences and the colonial charm that we had hoped for in this location. The property was huge and provided a great space for the family to run and play in our down time. I highly recommend this property!

New England Getaway
This farmhouse was the perfect getaway spot even on a weekend of rain. They have thought of EVERY detail including a comfortable mattress, big fluffy towels, a full coffee bar, and good smelling soap! The renovations to the property were so well done and it was fun to see the before/after books. We enjoyed the time we spent in the farmhouse and the drive into town was short and full of views as well. We have stayed in a ton of vacation houses and this one was above and beyond the rest with the attention to detail/comforts provided. Would recommend again and again and hoping we will make our way back in the future! Thank you so much!

Historic Farmhouse
This old farmhouse, at the end of a country lane, is located about 10 minutes from downtown Concord NH. It has been lovingly restored with all modern furnishings and appliances, but retains much of the character of the old structure. We stayed four nights which allowed us to explore nearly every direction of the compass. Local roads are such that you can choose to travel interstate highways, or take a leisurely drive in the country. Two bedrooms and a large, well equipped kitchen, make this a great place for an extended stay.

Fabulous Farmhouse
As a solo traveler seeking a quiet setting 'off the beaten track,' I booked this farmhouse expecting a restful but rustic experience. Yes, it's located at the end of a rural, woodsy road that gets very dark at night, but on the inside it's loaded with amenities—not least the sparkling kitchen and bath—to match any high-end country cottage. I enjoyed my stay so much, I only wish I'd brought a friend to share it with. It would be an ideal getaway for a small family. Highly recommended.

A Gem in New Hampshire
This home was absolutely amazing! Lyn spent four years pouring his blood, sweet and tears into renovating this amazing home that was built in 1764. He kept many cool details of the home and added amazing and modern amenities. Everything was very well thought out and the home and grounds extremely clean and comfortable. We cooked a few meals and he has everything there for us. I rarely give a 5 star review but this home deserved it!
