The linoleum on the bathroom floor was peeling up. The toilet paper and tissues were thin. The white towels were gray, stiff, and scratchy as if they had been used to wipe a floor and never washed. “Very unique property, we loved it. With that being said, we went in with expectations appropriate to the stay. We were aware of no bathroom in the room and were okay with this. We didn't ever wait to use the restroom or shower. The property is in pretty good shape considering how long its been in operation. “My stay was disappointing overall. In the middle of summer, the air conditioning in my room barely worked—it was actually cooler in the hallway than it was inside my room, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. The front desk staff was rarely available, and it was difficult to get assistance when needed. Since I was only staying one night, I decided to tough it out rather than make an issue of it. The one bright spot was the restaurant. The staff was friendly, the service was excellent, and……

“The room at Rustic Lodge was decent. It had been renovated and was clean. We had no complaints about the room. Breakfast was a disaster, however. I have somewhat modest expectations of motel breakfasts, but this was the worst. Apparently they set out breakfast supplies at 7 am and do not restock. So if you show up later, there is no more milk or waffle batter or hot water for the tea…? When prompted, the staff just said no. Really?!? You don’t have another half gallon of milk back there?!? ……

“This hotel is a gem of a place to stay. It is original in decor, clean, friendly and helpful. Our trip took us from Virginia to Vancouver Island and back and this hotel was possibly the best hotel we stayed in. It is an oasis. There are restaurants within walking distance, which is nice after a full day of driving. We cannot recommend it enough. It's 10 (out of ten!). The night we stayed, the hotel was sold out. We were so lucky to get a room.”
