Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Traditional with great staff
Brilliant service. Lovely staff. Great food. Excellent traditional pub bar.
Rooms could do with a bit of minor maintenance (broken blind and basin plug)
So much history it is unbelievable!
It is like stepping into a medieval time period!

We stayed here in the Tudor 4 poster room. While some of the reviews mentioned noise in some of the suites, we only heard guests downstairs when we were in the bathroom and then only in the afternoon. It was quiet in the evening / night. It was a great place to stay after a 5,000 mile trip from the Western US and recover from jet lag before going on to meet friends and family elsewhere in the UK. (It’s about a hour from Heathrow). The ford was good, the beer excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. And amazing to think that it’s been an alehouse and then an Inn since 1383. A business and a building with some serious staying power :)
Historic inn and stayed in the old part of the hotel/inn which had lovely character. Evening meal also very good

Amazing country hotel
We stayed here for my wife’s birthday and choose the Guardsroom as it had a four poster bed. The room is lovely with so much character
The staff are excellent and super attentive
The food was really nice, we had dinner and breakfast.
I really would recommend staying here as it cannot be faulted
Lovely property on the edge of an idyllic village setting on a green. Staff were welcoming, room clean and tidy and food was lovely - the only thing that let it down was the cold shower and the fact that our friends could hear every word we said when we were in the bathroom area. We were in the new extension rooms

The weather was very hot and when asked for a fan one arrived immediately
Bedroom needs a mirror near the plug so when drying hair you can see what you are doing
Mysigt pubhotell i liten by. Be om rum på baksidan
Hotellet ligger vid en stor väg. Pga vädret var vi tvungna att sova med öppet fönster. Väcktes kl 0430 av tunga lastbilar. Fick byta till rum på baksidan natt 2.
An amazing building, most of which dates from before King Henry VIII. Lovely old beams and more modern coloured glass with historical scenes. Oh, and the food was good, too. Bedrooms are old on the road side, more recent at the back
Fantastic place to stay. The Crown lived up to all our expectations from the pictures. Lovely old building with loads of character. All areas were spotlessly clean & tidy. Food and drinks were again excellent. Our visit was during COVID-19 restrictions and was run very well with customer safety in mind. A special mention to Hannah, Daniel & Kiera for their attention to detail and customer satisfaction.
Would give them and the rest of the staff top marks in all areas. Thanks for your help to make our stay such a pleasure.

Check reception closing time prior to booking
Reception was closed when I arrived, had to book elsewhere very late at night with limited options available. Total disaster.
