This town in the mountains of Western Tirol is famous for its long snow season, fun après-ski entertainment and concert performances by big international names.

Ischgl is a leading ski town blessed with one of the longest winter seasons in Europe. Discover miles of perfectly groomed slopes and try a wide range of snow sports. Enjoy biking and hiking across green valleys and rugged mountains. Revel in vibrant après-ski venues and attend live music events.

Ischgl sits in the Paznaun Valley, surrounded by the Silvretta Alps of Austria’s Western Tirol region. The town itself has a lovely Tirolean charm the streets are lined with boutiques, cafés and cultural attractions. Examine the Gothic and Rococo architecture of 18th-century St. Nicholas Parish Church. Learn about the town’s history and rise to fame at the Cable Car Museum. Come to Silvretta Arena for the skiing season, which runs from November to May. Ride the town’s underground travellators to the three gondolas, including the historic Silvrettaseilbahn. Find 147 miles (238 kilometers) of slopes suitable for alpine skiing and snowboarding. Practice your freestyling skills at Ischgl Snowpark. Go night tobogganing on a 4.4-mile (7-kilometer) long track.

During the summer months the magnificent landscapes invite you to explore boundless trails on foot or by bike. Walk high above pine forests via suspension bridges on the Idalp Adventure Hiking Trail. Stroll barefoot around a glistening lake at Vider Truja Adventure Park.

Experience Ischgl’s culinary scene, which has restaurants recognized in the acclaimed French gourmet guide Gault Millau. Sample local Paznaun cheese and gröstl, which is bacon, onion and potato fried together. Party until the early hours at the bars, cabaret venues and nightclubs.

Attend a Top of the Mountain concert. These take place at the start and end of the ski season. Previous performers include Elton John, Bob Dylan and Rihanna.

Reach Ischgl by taking a train to Landeck and then catching a local bus. Alternatively, rent a car and enjoy a scenic drive through the Tirol province. Extend your stay to visit quaint villages such as Galtür and Kappl.
