"This property is a scam. We booked and paid for 3 rooms thru Expedia. When we arrived they only have one room for our reservation. They want to push us to stay at their other property. Their other property is dirty and small. We flew thousands of miles to experience a homestay in the beautiful Sapa rice fields. Being weekend all the nice home stays were all booked. "AVOID! HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH! If I could give this property 0 stars, then I would! Where to start… the staff member at the front desk was very unhelpful and rude. As soon as we arrived (2 hours early), after a long journey, tried to charge us almost double what we initially paid for an early check in. The hotel is dirty and an absolute litter of dirty shoes, thrown all across the floor was what we were met with as soon as we walked in. The pool, that was still under construction, with cowboys...

"Nice views and that’s about it. Poor breakfast buffet and staff could not manage demand well. Cleanliness was poor, refillable glass bottles for drinking water were not washed and microbial growth could be see below lids. Shower curtains has mildew and mold on them. Washroom exhaust fan was disgusting and not cleaned. Tub drain leaked all over floor. So much potential but poor management and lack of staff training evident. "

"Room was ok. Only 1 channel on the TV worked and froze half the time. Breakfast buffetbwas great with lots of options! We did a couples 90 min massage and 30 min Red Dao Herbal bath which was absolutely incredible. Both of us had probably the best massage we have ever had. Our masseuses were Huong and Chuyen. If you can book either of these two amazing ladies do it!!!! Very good prices as well."

"First off the view from the place and our room was AMAZING — best views across Sapa for sure!!! The compound was big and there was lots to explore / multiple viewpoints. They also grow their own veggies on site. The room was clean and host was fantastic!!! He made sure we had everything we needed at all times!! And the attached restaurant serves everything fresh — they usually require pre-order for breakfast so that they can prepare and buy the freshest ingredients. They also have SUPER CUTE dog and cats. I loved our time there so much it was the favourite part of our Sapa trip!!!"

"Sapa Clay House was a first class experience. We have traveled around the world and Clay House will be remembered as one of our top tier experiences. Every detail, from the extreme hospitality, to the bedding, to the food was simply incredible. Hospitality: We were at clay house for about 24 hours but felt like family within the first hour. I am genuinely sad to leave the good people who make clay house a home. we had lovely conversations throughout our days and felt like we were in truly the best hands for all of our bookings around Sapa. we especially loved learning that the staff take a few days off to go on vacation together every year - they had just returned from Thailand - it makes sense given how truly close and happy everyone is. Food: holy cow. We love good food and elevated experiences. We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants around the world. Every dish at Sapa Clay House is on par with the best restaurants we’ve been to. We were continuously in awe of the beauty, freshness, taste, and presentation of our lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Chef Huan could have a job at any restaurant in the world. We are so lucky that he is the chef at Clay house. I wish we could have stayed and eaten there for a week. Our wine was also fantastic. Cooking class: best one we’ve ever had (compared to Tuscany, Sicily, Japan, Spain, Denver, etc)."
