Attrape touriste à éviter !!
Un séjour en couple dans la cabine du capitaine, la literie est très usée, il y a de poussières très visibles sur les tables de nuit, la lumière de la salle de bain ne fonctionne pas, pas de chauffage dans la chambre du capitaine (on a pas été prévenu non plus), pas de place de parking non plus ( il y a 3 place devant le bateau uniquement). Après le signalement du chauffage qui ne fonctionne pas, on est revenu dans la soirée et c’était pas réparé (bien sûr on a pas été prévenu, on a dû descendre et demandé s’ils sont intervenus) après insistance on nous a proposé une plus petite chambre pour le même prix …. Et un dédommagement de 20 euros le lendemain …. Endroit à éviter

Memorable trip
We were welcomed kindly & were impressed with the Barge decor. As others have reviewed: we parked at the train station for 6.20€ for 24hrs (pay on exit) and walked to the hotel along a quiet street. The walk to the town centre was comfortable; we took several routes to explore the area and they took us 20-30mins). Breakfast was included with our stay and the variety was welcomed. Our canel-view room was akin to a cruise ship cabin; quirky with enough space for our luggage for our single night stay. We will be recommending our stay to family/friends who visit Bruges.

MUCH better than anticipated
Booked for just one night as a fun experience staying on a barge. Assumed it would be pretty basic, so a lovely surprise it was really nice. Comfortable, bigger room/cabin than anticipated. Proper king size bed, good shower, excellent breakfast choice plus very welcoming to our dog. Can thoroughly recommend.

A very unique hotel experience with lovely views of the Gent-Bruges Canal. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant and helpful evening staff. Parking facilities are very minimal and inconvenient, and it is necessary to park at the Railway Station, some 1/4 mile away. The restaurant is not open on Tuesdays and we found it very difficult to find somewhere to dine in the evening.

Such a disappointment! I was super excited about our stay here, having read the reviews and looked at all the pictures online. I was shocked to find a room so small one couldn’t walk around the end of the bed, or open a small suitcase anywhere but ON the bed. The floors and bathroom were dirty ( dirt on floors, hairs mildew and rust in bathroom.) One small thin pillow on bed, thin lumpy mattress, old, small, thin towels. The concept of this hotel is so great, but sadly the execution does not meet expectations.

Thank you for your feedback.Since we are situated on a boat our rooms are a bit smaller than most people would expect of a standard hotel room.Would you happen to remember which roomnumber this was? So we can give a little extra cleaning love to this room.We do apologize for not being up to the cleanliness standard but we will be giving this room a little extra cleaning attention based on your feedback.We hope to do better in the future.

A charming and original accommodation in a quiet, open space just outside of the city center, which is only a 10-minute walk from the barge. Yes, it really is a barge! Even on a chilly autumn day, it's cozily warm. It has plenty of walking paths nearby to stretch out and walk the dog in the morning. The canal view also gets you a romantic sunrise and lots of sweet light. When you open the room window, you're almost eye level with the water. I thought ducks would drift in the room! The staff was patient with my fledgling Dutch and perfectly trilingual when I gave up. The breakfast is delicious and generous. The room was small but clean and efficiently retrofitted, as rooms in ships usually are. Why stay anywhere else?

Hotel original a proximite du centre historique
Chambres plutot confortables, dans une peniche. Ambiance marine (dorures, boiseries, moquette...), vue sur le canal, 15 minutes a pieds du centre historique. Acceuil polyglotte, personnel tres pro. Petit dejeuner buffet tout a fait correct. Points negatifs: pas de parking sur place (le plus proche est a environ 500 m). L'ensemble est un peu vieillissant et meriterai une renovation pour rester au top.

Lovely hideaway
I love the location and friendliness of this hotel. It is quirky and different. Only downside for me was, the bar/restaurant isn't always open when expected. We were on a 3 night stay, we arrived Monday no bar or restaurant open that evening, although the information in the room suggested the bar would be, so we made sure we booked a table for the restaurant the following 2 nights in case they worked on the fact there were no bookings so not opening. The food was good an plentiful. The staff very helpful and friendly. I can only assume the fact it is mid October and end of season it doesn't need to be open as much. Overall, I loved my stay at De Barge Hotel and have recommended it several times already.

Réveillés en s’apercevant que les draps sont tachés de sang (en bas du lit, au niveau des pieds), c’est ignoble ! De plus, nous pensions nous être fait dévorer par des moustiques, mais aujourd’hui en allant voir un médecin car les boutons grattaient toujours (plus de 20 piqures par personne), j’apprends qu’il s’agit de puces ou de punaises de lit, compte tenu des boutons. Nous déconseillons fortement cet établissement, où les services d’inspection devraient passer.

Unique hotels in Bruges
Enjoyed staying at de barge. Unique place to stay. The breakfast was great. It is not a five star place but clean in a nice area an easy walk to the centre of town. Quarters are tight and there is a slight musty smell but otherwise enjoyed. One of our party was very nervous staying on the barge as she is prone to seasickness and claustrophobia, but ended up having the best sleep of her holiday. The barge is fixed sonthere is no movement.

Porte de douche défectueuse, draps tachés. Très mal insonorisé. Pour un séjour en couple, il aurait été bien de prévenir qu'il n'y avait pas de lit double mais 2 lits simples collés avec 2 couettes 1 personne. Il y avait un festival a proximité dont personne ne nous avait parlé (très bruyant). Nuits très courtes.

An ok stay, but didn’t feel romantic
Friendly staff, the outside of the barge looks nice. There isn’t great footpaths to access the centre however it is only a short distance. I feel for the price we paid £104, the room was certainly not luxurious enough, they could definitely do with updating, a bit more care and attention and some more quality fixtures and fittings. The beds were comfy and when you led in bed with the windows open looking across the canal it was really quite nice. If the quality of the room or the price was a fair bit lower I would probably stay again. However I personally could not stay again as they have terrified lobsters barbarically kept in a tank with there claws bound together which is to upsetting for me to see and I know this would put a lot of other people of staying.

Delightful character hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Could not have been more hospitable. Quiet and calm on the canal. Occasional working barges pass silently adding to the character of staying on a boat. Rooms comfortable for a cabin. Breakfast choice good for limited space. Cooked, continental, fruit and cereal choices. Evening meal good and very substantial; especially if you have a starter as well. Enjoyable walk to and from the town. a few minutes passage through the paths and streets that you have come to visit. Easy access to the city. Overall, the best reference is that I would go back there in a heartbeat. Couple of free parking spaces and free Wi-Fi. Loved it, Quirky and fun.

A really quirky hotel...right up our street (or canal). Loved the fact that our emergency exit was via the window into the canal - life-jackets supplied - loved the fact we didn't have to try it out too! Parking nearby at the station was recommended as you would be lucky to find it outside, but we left the car there the whole stay for a reasonable price, especially when compared with parking in Edinburgh! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were good, with lots of choice. If you are looking for something different in Bruges, within walking distance (half an hour) of the very centre, do consider this. We would definitely come back.

Good weekend break.Bring plenty of Euros!!
Superb breakfast buffet. Comfy clean bedrooms. Ducks swimming past bedroom window! Parking hopeless (4 spaces always full)opposite Hotel De Barge. Nearest car park at railway station. Parked outside on top level. €3.50 per day.10 mins walk from Hotel. Bruges is geared to tourists. Prices of food and drink seem high/ fixed prices in restaurants.... around 19-20 Euros for main course in centre. Free 2 hour guided tours around 10.30 and 2 pm with different companies . Set off from square where Belfry is located.Look online for free walking tours. Lots of parkland to walk through on way back to Hotel.....watch out for many BIKES..!!! they ride on pavement / road but only on n the red tarmac. Pretty city very photogenic but expensive.

Could have been so good, BUT.....
Quirky hotel with character, good location and good breakfast. Could have been really good, BUT three big issues: 1. Bar and restaurant do not open on Tuesday or Wed nights 2. Hotel is unmanned after 20:30 (our room door lock failed at 23:30 and there was no one there to help) 3. Parking is very limited - only 5 (public) spaces. When these are gone you need to park at the station 10-15 mins walk away!

Goeie ontvangst en heel vriendelijk personeel. Interessante toeristische informatie+stratenplan met wandelroute naar het centrum meegekregen vanuit het hotel. Lekker en verzorgd ontbijt. Propere kamer...wel klein maar niet abnormaal vermits je op een boot logeert. Over het algemeen tevreden...dus de kans is groot dat ik nog terug ga :) (Likje verf op de muren zou heel verfrissend kunnen werken...als je in bed ligt dan zie je dat het plafond maar gedeeltelijk blauw geverfd is (waarschijnlijk omdat men vermoed dat dit niet te zien is door het decoratieve doek dat gedeeltelijk op het plafond gespannen is).
