Regarding cleanliness, in general the cottage was very clean (i.e. kitchen, bedrooms, baths spotless), however there was a pet odor that pervaded the place. It led us to avoid the sitting room area and we booked other stays this trip at venues that did not permit pets. Regarding service - instructions were e-mailed regarding the cottage heating being on a timer, however, during two of the evenings of our stay the heat did not kick on. Eventually we found a manual override and were able to get the heat early on the last morning of our 3-day stay. Would suggest e-mailing better instructions so that others are not inconvenienced. On the positive, we booked this cottage to enable cooking by our vegan daughter, and those facilities were great. The upstairs BR/bath + downstairs BR/bath accommodated 3 adults well. Offsite parking worked out fine for us but may be challenging for others - there were quite a few steps from the cottage to the free parking area. Street parking was limited, and only worked out one of the three evenings we stayed. This location enabled our daughter to move into her university residence; the drive to St. Andrews is convenient for those with a car. We did not use local restaurants or see local sites during this visit. Being at the seaside was enchanting, and it would be a nice place to stay during the summer months. The housekeeper left us fresh flowers and local strawberries, nice touches, and the cottage was decorated beautifully.
