My best friend and I checked into Quirk around 6 pm on a Saturday for a 1-night stay. The lobby was lovely and the hotel guests milling about made it feel lively! We were informed that the linen service was late and that our room was ready but the bed was not made. They gave us a card for a glass of bubbly/drip coffee at the cafe for our trouble. After waiting for the one working elevator to arrive, We entered our room and found the decor/furniture sparse for the size of the room (ADA room?). It was the amount of dust, covering every surface, that gave us pause. Adding a few stray hairs, visible gunk on the bath floor, and splatters all over the inside of the bath pocket door (next to the toilet) led us to request a new room. We were told no other rooms were available but that the room would be cleaned again when we left for dinner. Then they called to say we could swap our room - which we appreciated. The new room was better decorated, with a made bed, and was a bit cleaner but the pocket door was still grimy and there was still a lot of dust! We shrugged and tried to open a bottle of wine. Alas, no corkscrew. When we returned around 11 we asked at the desk for an extra bathrobe, a wine key and a spare phone cord. They handed over a robe and said they didn't have the other items. Luckily the bartender, Nick?, was closing down the bar and kindly lent us his wine key! The bed was comfortable and we slept well. We don't think we will return to Quirk for our next Cville trip.
