Upon arrival on Sunday night after a long drive, I was glad to arrive. No signs to indicate where reception was, I entered the bar, and was shown to the room. I was then told the restaurant was closed, as was the bar, and everything in the locale. Was it really too much to provide for a sandwich or something. So then after a long drive I had to go out again, not something I really wanted to do.
The restaurant apparently isn’t part of the accommodation, and it’s a completely separate entity, meaning you can’t put the meals and drinks etc on your room tab and pay at the end. While this isn’ the make or break, it was another little annoyance in the list that kept growing. By not allowing me to eat at the restaurant on various occasions, will have cost this 'strange business model', more than the cost of the meal, also I was going to purchase gifts for family and friends etc. from the Farm Shop (one one the reasons I chose to stay), but decided against it based on the experience I have had, and spend my money else where, as they obviously didn’t want it.
Conclusion, rant over. The whole place didn’t seem to know where it’s focus was, and as a hotel (as listed on Expedia) 2 - 3 stars tops. But as a guest house (written on signage at the Bodnant Welsh Food) 5 stars, easy. Please decide what you as a customer want before you go, as I wish I had this information before travelling, and it’s not all bad…..
