"This historic Inn is lovely, very well appointed & restored accommodations. Excellent service, beautiful upgrade to the property a few years ago. It’s a really quirky and interesting little town with areas of interest to explore, if you stay here, definitely take the time to walk across the bridge it’s a beautiful view. That being said there aren’t really any restaurant options that then other than the hotel but they’re closed during the week in the off-season. The town itself is really unusual and odd but if you’re up here to see the redwoods or drive the avenue it’s a nice place to stay."

"We had a wonderful stay at The Black Sands Inn. The property's direct access to the beautiful beach was a huge plus, offering stunning views and perfect opportunities for tide pooling and beachcombing. The hot tub was a definite highlight—it was incredibly clean and relaxing with its great views, strong jets, and comfortable seats. We also appreciated the convenience of having several good restaurants located nearby. We are hoping to stay longer next time to explore more."

"Our room was on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Vaulted ceiling made the room feel even bigger. Space heater only but not needed because the room temp was perfect both day and night. We had trouble figuring out how to access apps on TV but one phone call to manager and it was resolved quickly. Room, bathroom and bedding all clean. Plenty of towels and extra blankets if needed. Stunning view! Left slider open with fresh air, sound of ocean waves and sea lions barking in the distance. Made for great night sleep. Beds were hard, need pillow toppers. There is no staff on site that you are allowed to contact. Cleaning crew office has a sign not to bother staff. That was very weird for us old school folks! We needed to known where to find an ATM in the area and had no help from this Hotel. Plan ahead with cash and call manager with questions. Manager was very nice and helpful. There is a wifi password which helped our cell phones work in this Hotel. Restaurant in building was great for breakfast. Good food, great view. We are definitely going to stay here again because despite no staff on site, we had a great stay and wonderful visit to Shelter Cove. "

"The Beach House was everything we’d hoped for, and much more. Beautifully remodeled, stunning ocean views (close enough to hear the surf and the seals), well equipped in every way imaginable, comfortable beds, books and games, spacious. We can’t say enough good about this place. It has 3 bedrooms plus a hide-a-bed, so it could sleep 8. Because of car troubles, we missed our first 24 hours there, and Keith kindly offered to let us stay an extra day on the latter end of our time. Keith was great with communication, as well.We have stayed in many vacation rentals, but none with such a well equipped kitchen. I fell during our time there and got pretty scraped up, but everything I needed to clean and bandage my scrapes was in the first aid kit. It seemed to us that Keith and Kazumi have thought of everything. If we’re in Shelter Cove again, I hope the Beach House is available. We’d love to stay there again. Thank you, Keith and Kazumi! "
