I'm sorry you have been unhappy, however, your review is not a fair reflection of the situation. As you will see from previous reviews, guests have been very pleased with their stay and the support from the management company. We want guests to have a fantastic break at our holiday home so this is very concerning. In terms of the points raised: the property manager informed me that when the cleaning crew attended after you checked out it was clear significant drug use had been taking place in the property. Additional cleaning was needed to address the strong smell of marijuana before arrival of the next guests. We have a strict no smoking policy in place at the villa and using marijuana is illegal in Florida. However, despite this, no claim has been made on your security deposit, which it certainly could have been given the circumstances. It isn't our policy to claim against security deposits without good reason and only one charge has been made in five years of renting our home. You contacted me when you arrived to complain about the lack of pool heating, but the property description makes it clear that this is an additional cost. As a gesture of goodwill I provided pool heating at no cost to you during your stay. I'm sorry that this didn't address your concerns. The villa has monthly pest control and there has not been any evidence of rodents or insects before. The property management company has checked the villa and cannot find evidence of pests/infestation. Please bear in mind that Florida is a warm country and it is inevitable that the odd bug will find its way in on occasion. Bedding was bought new in June ready for the new season of rentals and is washed thoroughly when guests leave. The property is also cleaned thoroughly between guests, as one would expect. I am very disappointed you feel you have not had a good stay and very disappointed you have chosen to leave such a scathing review with unfounded statements. Most guests who stay with us are welcome to return any time and many do, but I would be reluctant to accept any future bookings from you. VRBO have been less than helpful at this end too and it is a shame this situation has had to be dealt with through the review process rather than through more appropriate offline dialogue.

I'm sorry that you experienced noise during your stay - this is very unusual as Emerald Island is a very quiet, peaceful resort, which was the main reason we bought there. I wish you had let me know about the problems during your stay so that we could have worked with the HOA to deal with them. Thank you very much for your comments and I'm very sorry for the problems you experienced with pool heating; we had undertaken a repair before your arrival, which the contractor did not complete properly. This impacted on temperature and cleanliness. Thankfully, we managed to sort it out for you during your stay so that you could enjoy the pool fully for the rest of your trip. Hopefully our full refund of your heating costs compensated you for this. I'm also sorry you had issues with the waste disposal and lightbulbs - this is the first time you raised these. We would urge all guests to tell us immediately if there are any repairs/replacements needed as if we don't know about them we can't sort them out. Your review has been shared with our property manager who can make sure everything is in order for future guests.
