Friendly accommodating staff & nice room but the air freshener was so overwhelming that I had to switch rooms. The first floor hall smelled mildewy & the paint on many of the doors was peeling. The rest of the place was nice.

The staff that we encountered were excellent, but the cleanliness of our room did not meet expectations. The tub looked liked it hasn't been cleaned in years, and a nice old bar of soap sitting on top of the shower surround, water pressure was poor as well. Free breakfast was average, but it worked.

We have stayed here twice, once in Feb. and in April. I booked these stays at the same time since we were visiting our daughter at Tech and wanted to plan our hotels stays. The pictures make this hotel much nicer than in person. It’s an older hotel and while you can tell they are trying to do some minor renovations, the lack of details to cleanliness overrides the small improvements. The shortcut with painting or ensuring light fixtures and remotes work, the overflowing trash cans by the entrances, etc. make it so unappealing. The terrible breakfast (powder eggs, over/under cooked sausage), hard biscuits, cold gravy made the “free breakfast” not worth it. There was no one to be found to tell about the food. Many other guests walked away as well. We went out and paid for breakfast.

Wrecking ball needed: Although I don't expect a 5 star stay at any Quality Inn, this hotel was the worst QI I have experienced. The place is shabby, smelly (mildew, cigarette smoke, marijuana smoke) and old. I can only hope they have plans to renovate given the excellent location near the 2 universities and interstate. There is nothing healthful to eat at the breakfast: NO FRUIT OF ANY KIND. All processed cheap foods. This place is totally depressing and really put a damper on my trip to see my child at VA Tech.

Staff=excellent Hotel=needs fixing
I would like to start off by saying the staff was very nice. However, when I went into my room the TV didn't work, half the lights didn't work, it was dark, smelly and very dreary. I had to call the front desk about the lights, appliances and TV, as nothing worked. They kindly came to my room to plug in the TV and appliances as well as fix one light bulb, so that I would have at least some light. I would have expected that to have been done before we got there. We paid significantly more for this hotel than others in the area because of the pool, hot tub and breakfast... but the hot tub was stained and didn't work anyway, the room was old, stained and smelled terrible, and the breakfast was awful. In short, it was a big disappointment and I would not spend that kind of money there, ever again. The place needs help.

We were staying there because we were in between houses and waiting to close and move in to our new house because we were locals. We had to pay a 150 security deposit due to the local college in the area even though we definitely do not look like college students. The week we were there our room never got cleaned by house keeping I personally vacuumed the room myself 2 times because the one time the front desk acting as housekeeper came to do it he was scared of our dog - my son offered to take the dog outside the entire stay there was a struggle to get clean towels as hotel laundry was an issue same w fresh linen. The jets in the hot tub did not work so it was basically a pool of warm water the ph readings on the board at the pool did not change from the time we checked in to when we checked out so it is doubtful it was being checked breakfast was the same every morning and some mornings it looked like the gravy was what had been left over from the night before The one lady who was supposed to be a house keeper. Was seen regularly doing yoga in and reading in the “hot tub” there were 2 days that all of the doors including the room doors did not read the keycards so outside doors remained unlocked and the poor maintenance man who also ran front desk was running like a crazy person to let patrons into their rooms And to top off the wonderful stay we had they refused to refund the security deposit stating that the room had been smoked in me nor my son smoke

This guest smoked in the hotel room and few guest complaint of it as the smoke smell coming into the Hallway. This guest broke the policy as the guest signed the registration which mentions smoke policy. Upon check out Front desk checked the room and noticed smoke smell in the room. Front desk mentioned to the guest about it. The guest refused and started using very abusive language towards the desk Clark. The guest was so aggressive toward the hotel staff. This guest not even respecting to their own pet and use F word to their own pet since they have to pay the pet fee. The guest was using dirty language which we cannot discloses in public, so hotel did call law to handle this violence guest, and the law put trespass on this guest. The hotel staff member requested not to use terrible language at the desk because of Church service going on next to the lobby, and the staff receive reply back from this guest is that” this is America and we can do anything”, by saying it this guest is not even respecting our amazing country THE USA. On the other side the people from the church service came to give sympathy to the hotel staff of listening this kind of abusive language from this guest. The hotel did refund all the deposit money in front of law even they broke the smoking policy, just because the hotel do not want to deal with this wild guest who has no respect to animal, community, people and more important our wonderful country.

Everything was good, this is a older hotel but we were welcomed and treated fine. Looks like a lot of remodeling has been done, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable. The shower looked like it was new and very clean. The dining room for breakfast had been freshly redone and looked great. The outside needs a little refresh with paint on some of the woodwork but overall we had a great experience and would definitely stay again. Thanks

Property was very old looking and shabby. My shower curtain was stained. The hallway and door to room looked like the paint job was either ancient or incomplete. Hallways were cold and drab. Bathroom had what looked like mold on ceiling. Controls on heater were impossible to read.

The beds were super uncomfortable. The place was generally clean. The breakfast was literally the worst hotel breakfast I've ever had. I'm pretty sure the eggs were powdered. Would not do again.

The property was beautiful and well-maintained. The pool was lovely. We only wish we would have had the opportunity to use the pool and swim facilities. Our schedule made it impossible to make use of the recreational facilities. Still, we checked it out and it was really beautiful.

Staff professional and very friendly. Nice breakfast area, but need to offer peanut butter for the bagels. Most all room doors had dings, scrapes etc. making the property look old and unkept. Curtains in our room were torn in several places.

This place is so run down and horrible. We arrived to check in, waiting for reception to refund the family in front of us, who told me there were several cockroaches in their room. Our room did not have roaches but it was dingy and showed so much signs of wear and tear. The pictures of the property from afar seem ok but up close, the hallways and room interior was horribly run down with damage to walls and doors everywhere. I can’t take a picture of smell, but it smelled of mold and rot in our room. We checked out a day earlier because there was no way I was going to stay longer than necessary. Sleeping in my car would have been preferable
