There's heaps to do in Morelos, but head farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Rent a set of wheels and you can explore the surrounding area at your own speed. Add these awesome destinations to your to-do list:

• Puerto Vallarta is approximately 120 miles from Morelos. Well-known tourist spots like Malecon deserve to be at the top of your list while you're in town.
• Your next pit stop? Consider Colima, which is around 40 miles away. Colima Cathedral is one local highlight you really shouldn't miss.
• Get into nature and breathe in some fresh air at Bay of Banderas. It's approximately 130 miles from Morelos.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Mexico, then it's likely you'll need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. You should also note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll have to show your driver's license from your home country your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be at least 25 in many countries to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the fine print before you drive away. Typically, you can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or on off-road areas with your rental car.
