A.C. Milan History

Associazione Calcio Milan was founded by Alfred Edwards and Herbert Kilpin in 1899. By 1907, the club had already won three Italian championships. The forming of F.C. Internazionale Milano over internal disagreements caused A.C. Milan to fall for nearly 4 decades. Gren, Nordahl and Liedholm were the famous trio that led the team after the drought, winning 5 out of 10 annual championships. They would enter another period of decline until 1986, when Arrigo Sacchi was picked up by the franchise. The club won its first championship in nine years, as well as their first European Cup in 2 decades a year later. The 1989-90 team led by Sacchi is referred to as the best club of all time, being nicknamed the “Immortals”. The club had was involved in a scandal during the 2006-07 season, where Milan was among 5 teams being accused of selecting favorable referees. This led to another period of reign for Internazionale. The 2010-11 season did bring another Scudetto, with star players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Pato joining the franchise. The red on their uniforms represent the Player’s fiery ardor, while the black is meant to represent the opponent’s fear. Fear the Rossoneri!
