The Appalachian State Mountaineers have received much attention throughout the years for upsetting Nationally Ranked teams and playing some very close games against much larger schools. The Mountaineers , despite their small stature of a program have proven they are certainly no easy win for much larger programs.
If one thing's for certain, it's that you can never count the Mountaineers out and expect an easy win over them. They've proven time and time again to not roll over for much stronger opponents. The Mountaineers hold amazing upsets over the North Carolina Tar Heels, Michigan Wolverines, and most recently Texas A&M.
The Mountaineers play their home games at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC Despite being a smaller school, Appalachian State has achieved great success of the football field, winning three National Championships in the FCS.
