As the popularity of vaudeville began to die down in the early 1930s, the Cadillac—then the New Palace Theatre—was converted into a movie palace that occasionally brought Broadway shows to Chicago. In 1984, under the name the Bismarck Theatre, the venue was converted into a space for rock concerts and then was used sporadically during the 1990s. After a complete restoration, the theater reopened as the Cadillac Palace in 1999 and has since become the home of both touring productions and pre-Broadway premieres. In 2018, you can get tickets to see smash-hits such as On Your Feet!, The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Waitress, and the world premiere of the new comedy musical Tootsie.
