Choir Boy To Country Phenomenon

Ever since he was a boy, Chris Young was set on becoming a musician. He sang in the Oakland High School choir and performed in their drumline. By the time he was in college, he was putting on about 150 performances a year! He was persuaded to audition for Nashville Star, a popular competition show, in 2006. This subsequently earned him a deal with RCA Records Nashville. “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” was Young’s debut single, which peaked at no. 42 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. His following self-titled debut album was produced by Buddy Cannon, who is known for his work with country superstar Kenny Chesney. Young’s second studio album, The Man I Want to Be, included the transcendent Willie Nelson in a cover of Waylon Jennings’ “Rose in Paradise”. Later that year, he released his first no. 1 single, “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)”. He released his first certified platinum record, “Tomorrow”, in 2012. The CMA Songwriter’s Series, an initiative to bring country music overseas, took place in 2013, where Chris served as an Ambassador. In more recent ventures, Chris Young is seeing a new level of success. He has released three albums since 2015, one being a popular Christmas record. He has collaborated with huge artists like Cassadee Pope and Vince Gill. In 2017, Gill invited Young to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly country music concert in Nashville. A member of the Grand Ole Opry is able to perform an any show they’d like, and is known to be a huge milestone in the country industry!
