As one of the NFL’s oldest franchises, the Rams have played continuously since 1937, except for 1943 due to a shortage of players because of World War II. Originally founded in Cleveland, the team moved to Los Angeles in 1946, and then relocated to St. Louis in 1995, but then returned to LA in 2016. Legendary Rams Players

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is populated with former Rams, including Joe Namath, Marshall Faulk, Orlando Pace, Dick “Night Train” Lane, and coach Earl “Dutch” Clark. Over the years, spectacular plays earned Rams players various nicknames. While a few other defensive lines have worn the cloak of the “Fearsome Foursome,” no other franchise has flaunted it as long or as fearsomely as the 1960s Rams’ Lamar Lundy, Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones, and Rosey Grier. A solid wall on the field, the Fearsome Foursome made the Rams the hardest team to score on in the NFL during the 1960s and had a reputation for sacking quarterbacks. Grier retired in 1967 due to an injury and it fell to Roger Brown to keep the defense strong. He did not disappoint helping the Rams win 2 division titles.

After several slow seasons and a relocation to St. Louis, the Rams ramped up again with a record-breaking offensive team dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf.” From 1999 to 2001, they dominated the field thanks to the attack-oriented strategy of offensive coordinator Mike Martz. The Rams earned their way to 2 Super Bowl appearances, winning against the Titans in 1999 but losing to the New England Patriots in 2001. Rams Football Trivia

In 1948, the Rams became the first pro football team with a helmet insignia when halfback Fred Gehrke, an art major in college, painted a pair of curling horns on their leather headgear. Today, every team in the NFL wears helmet logos except for the Cleveland Browns.
