Head south for 9 innings in the sun with the Miami Marlins. Sporting one of the newest ballparks in Major League Baseball and one of the best records for a fresh expansion team, the Fish have packed plenty of terrific moments into their first quarter-century of history. Grab some Marlins tickets of your own to see the next chapter as the team takes the field again.
The Sunshine State got its first MLB franchise in 1993, when the Florida Marlins took up residence in Joe Robbie Stadium. After bringing on stars like Jeff Conine, Gary Sheffield, and Moisés Alou, the team set a league record by winning the World Series after just 5 years in existence. They immediately celebrated by trading away most of their best players in the offseason, setting a new record in 1998 with 108 losses and falling to the bottom of the major leagues.
Over the next 5 years, the Marlins found new strength in up-and-coming players like Preston Wilson and Derrek Lee, and started building up winning records again. In 2003, the team switched managers midseason and fought back from last place in the division, reaching the MLB Playoffs in the wild-card berth and going on to win their second World Series. SInce then, a series of new stars have helped to keep the shine on Marlins baseball.
With their name change and the move to Little Havana in 2012, the Marlins have become a fixture of downtown Miami, and watching a game under the retractable roof at Marlins Park is one of the signature things to do while you’re in town. Don’t miss the chance to experience the scene for yourself with tickets to see the Marlins in action.
The Marlins joined the MLB as an expansion team in 1993.
loanDepot Park has been the Marlins home stadium since 2012. Prior to that the team played at Sun Life Stadium.
Yes, the Marlins have been to two World Series' and won both times (1997 and 2003)
In 1997, the Miami Marlins (then called the Florida Marlins) won an impressive 92 games.
