Their first album, Showbiz, was released in 1999, showcasing the groups aggressive and melancholic style. Muse’s second album was more experimental, featuring the church organ, Mellotron, and other unconventional sources. Black Holes and Revelations featured electronic synths, and displayed Muse’s interest in science fiction. The album earned the Platinum Europe Award, and sold out performances around the world so fans could witness a new Muse. The fifth album, The Resistance, deals with themes of civil uprising. It beat its predecessor in its debut week with 148,000 copies sold. The album earned Muse a Grammy in 2011 for Best Rock Album.
