Pablo Mejia, Juan David Huertas, David Escobar, David Lurdoy Hernandez, and Juan David Castano founded Piso 21 in 2007, but they wouldn’t get widespread recognition until 5 year after their forming. In 2012, the group released their first self-titled studio album, which led to their nomination for Best New Artist at the Latin Grammy Awards. The group collaborated with Nicky Jam in 2014 to release the hit single “Suele Suceder”, which became the group’s first charting single in the US. Piso 21 signed with Warner Music Latina in 2016, and released “Besandote” the following year. They worked with Anne-Marie to release an official remix to celebrate 1 million followers on their YouTube channel. Their release of “Dejala Que Vuelva” at the end of 2017 marked their biggest song yet, topping several Spotify charts and becoming certified Gold two weeks after its release. Their second studio album, Ubuntu, was released mid-2018. Juan David Castano announced his pursuit of a solo career was announced early this year, and he has since been replaced with David Lorduy Hernandez.
