Split is the main urban, cultural and traffic center of Dalmatia. This 1700 year old town is a part of UNESCO’s world heritage, with its numerous archaeological, historical and cultural monuments among which the famous Diocletian’s palace takes a special place. This city is full of cultural life and entertainment, especially during the summer when Split, with its shops, yards and other places, becomes a big stage under the clear sky.
After meeting you will be taken through the historical part of the town. Diocletian’s palace is today the heart of the city of Split and part of UNESCO world heritage. Visit the well preserved cellars of Diocletian’s Palace which architectural purpose was to raise the imperial residential area in the upper floor. The cellars of Diocletian's Palace were also a Game of Thrones filming location.
Next you will walk up the stairs to Peristil. Peristil was meant to be used by Diocletian and the cult of living son of Jupiter, whose temple will also be seen. You will admire the cathedral of St. Duje (St. Duje is patron of the Split), originally the mausoleum of Diocletian, for which it is said that it is the oldest Cathedral in the World. Next to Diocletian's Palace is the beautiful medieval part of the city with People's square known as Pjaca, from the period od Venetian rule. The sightseeing will end in Riva, the beautiful waterfront with a lot of restaurants and cafes.
