At 1603 m, Śnieżka is one of the highest points in Lower Silesia and the highest point in the entire Czech Republic. The peak is enclosed by Czechia on one side while Poland on the other.
We take a train from Wrocław main station to Jelenia Gora from where a local transport takes 30-40 min. We follow the same route on the way back. The hike itself is 6-7h which takes to the top of Karkonosze. At the top the mountain shelter provides warm food for hungry belly and soul.
The top of Sniezka, also the highest point in Czech Republic, has a post office where you can buy post cards, beer, food, and souveniers. The hike is moderate level and requires crampons, gaiters, hiking poles, and goggles during winter. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking and worth every effort. Mountain hiking is love and I am deeply passionate about carrying nature hiking tours from Wrocław.
The entire trip from Wrocław and back takes almost 13-14 hours.
It will be worth your while! You have to buy an entrance ticket to the Karkonosze National Park. The good news for students is that they have a student discount. It is a perfect full-day hike for everyone.
Don’t forget to stretch up a bit before and after the hike. It keeps cramps at bay.
NOTE - Please book this activity at least 2 days before you plan to go!
