"There's not much about this hotel that can be beat"
I'll run short on characters so I'll start with location. If you've never been to Savannah, you're probably trying to figure out where everything is and how to get there. There is River Street- right on the water, Bay Street, one block up, and then most other hotels are either within one more block, or further away towards the residential areas and Forsyth Park. River Street seems okay, but a bit crowded, a tad loud, and although Savannah is beautiful, its hard to get excited about the industrial river. Bay Street is even more busy, and is a main route for loud traffic. The Andaz sits a block removed from this, on a quiet one-way street. It borders a beautiful plaza with fountains and seating. It is also about as close as you can get to City Market without being on it. At night its a short walk to live music, open air dining, shopping and fun people watching. The Andaz is located in the best spot in the city, hands down. Now hotel basics: clean, modern, quiet. Despite being nearby the lively square, I never heard anything. My room directly overlooked the beautiful pool area, and I never heard anybody there either. The cold complimentary refreshments were a nice touch. Valet was always available, day and night, and very pleasant. I didn't use the gym, but gave it a tour and it is exceptionally well done for a hotel gym. Hotel guests appeared quite diverse, with some families, many young and middle-aged couples, and more than one girls getaway.
