Depends on the room!

Posted May 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed in one room near the door and were disturbed by the doorbell throughout the night. The next day we were moved to a larger room with a balcony further away, which was much quieter. I couldn't understand why the doorbell needed to be so loud!

The hotel is up a couple flights of stairs with an extremely old lift that works when it wants to and barely fits a person when it does! The beds were hard as a rock and the bathrooms were smaller than those on most cruise ships....the only positive about the hotel is location, being just off the main strip, but that's a double sword because the street it resides on is about 50 yards long and the hotel isn't signed well.

Hotel Lyon is Foul!

Posted Sep 28, 2011 on Hotels.com
While it was a great bargain, I would not recommend staying here unless you plan on imbibing heavily then coming back and immediately losing consciousness as soon as you walk into your room every night. If you are at all aware of your surroundings you will experience an overwhelming urge to flee. Stale cigarette smoke seeps in through every crack and fills the rooms (I stayed in 3 different rooms), so you will have to put your clothes in plastic bags to avoid smelling like a hobo. The "air conditioners" are freestanding and rigged to large hoses leading to holes in the window that are meant to filter the hot air back outside. This would work great if they weren't being held together by thirty year old duct tape/tinfoil that has long since disintegrated. Aside from the smoke, the most disturbing aspect of the Hotel Lyon is the insane asylum mint green paint on all the walls and the dim lighting. It would be the perfect set for a horror movie-makes it kind of hard to sleep... I can't pinpoint anything specifically dirty, but the feeling you get is that you don't really want to touch anything or take off your shoes if you can avoid it. The sheets were clean-ish... All that aside, the location is excellent. It's a short walk to a Metro station, a RENFE station, and the main parts of Old Barcelona, so if you're feeling cheap and extremely brave, this may be the hotel for you.

For an inexpensive hotel it was fine.
