NOT QUITE WHAT EXPECTED

Posted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: restaurant
Cons: real view of ocean and heated pools
Location: beautiful location. Golfing, put-put, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, beaches, water park, historical sights, sailing, surfing, shopping
The hotel was a little disappointing. No view from ocean front room. More like apartment complex than a nice resort. A bit pricey for what you get. Room was clean. Staff at front desk were nice. Restaurant was great however. No plans to stay again, but do plan on returning to dine.

I loved the stay. The 1-bedroom oceanside villa was beautiful and clean. The ocean was feet away!

Beautiful Resort!!

Posted Jan 1, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Everything was above average!
We only spent one night at Villa by the Sea but we were so pleased with our short stay. The 3 bedroom villa was beautiful and fully equipped with everything we needed - TV's in every room and a dvd player with a whole library of dvd's in the lobby to select from for free. Decor was lovely and spic-n-span clean. There was no list of do's and don'ts which in itself made for a laid-back evening. The weather was overcast, cold and raining but the grounds were still beautiful and the whole visit was very relaxing! The staff was wonderful!

Villas By the Sea Resort

Posted Dec 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a rental condo type hotel, each room is of a different owner. We stayed during Thanksgiving holidays, so maintenance and service was a little relaxed. We were offered clean linens, and there was trash removal. The hotel is right next to the Driftwood beach, and it is also beachfront, but there is no beach access during high tide. Driftwood bistro is located on site, with basic but good Southern style menu, and full bar.

A New Experience

We really enjoyed it, wading in the Atlantic in November was neat. Walking to and from the Fishing Pier, seeing deer and all the Spanish Moss was enjoyable.

Great hotel with family-sized "villas"

Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: You are basically renting a townhouse for the price of an expensive hotel room. Each "room" has its own decor, so no corporate flavor.
Cons: There was a large group of teens there when we arrived and they were all over the place but mostly were quiet.
Location: Sea Turtle Rescue, Jekyll Island Club, Beach, Pool, Brunswick, Savannah (1.5 hrs)
Villas by the Sea is very reminiscent of townhouse complex that has been converted to a hotel. That means the units are extra large which is a big plus. Ours had two floors- A full kitchen, dining area, living area, and toilet on the first level and 2 bedrooms and a full bath on the second level. The location is right on the most secluded end of the island and is very peaceful and quiet. There is a restaurant/cafe on premises but we did not try it. The pool is large and in the middle of the complex. We had a gorgeous view of sunrise over the Atlantic from our room and the price was pretty reasonable.

Gracious Hospitality

The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Grounds are well kept. Driftwood Restaurant for dinner was a hidden surprise! We ate there 2 nights. Location on Driftwood Beach was a bonus as was the onsight bike rentals. The swimming pool looked nice and inviting. It was too cool to swim...wished they had a hot tub.

Bring your own Hose

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Front Desk Staff and the Deep Bistro Restaurant. Both outstanding!!!!
Cons: Bedding and Shower.......
Location: Set away from the basic things to do on the island. Its about a 5-10 minute drive to the Marina and Dune beaches and historic areas.......
Hotel Bedding was extremely challenging and no where near worth the value for the sleep you will get in this establishment. If you choose to shower please be sure to bring your own portable shower or a garden hose. There was NO PRESSURE from the shower to remove the soap from our bodies let alone from my Lady's Long Blonde Hair......She was a little upset... Hotel Front desk was outstanding and so was the restaurant. Excellent eatery for the folks staying at the Villa's.....

Great place for comfort and peace.

Pros: It was clean and well located. The pool was awesome. They had bike rentals. The staff were so nice. Rooms were equipped for Wi-Fi connection.
Cons: Open the restaurant on Sundays in October. Add cable TV.
Location: It is on the North end of the island near Driftwood beach and the horseback riding trail. There is a beach in front of the villas as well.
The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. The grounds were pictures and the pool was delightful. The staff were very nice and helpful. We rented bikes and toured the island and the beach access is close and the boardwalk is great. Villas is close to driftwood beach and horseback riding. We did not want to leave.
