Minerva is a good hotel, with good location, neat rooms, good breakfast, nice Chinese restaurant for dinner.

Rates itself as 4* but is really a 3*Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: Staff, Location.
Cons: Rooms - esp bathrooms - quite ugly and functional. Showers don't work!
Location: it's near the main shopping areas although Bucharest isn't known for its luxury brands and shopping. Probably a good bet for business travellers
Apart from the excellent staff - Dora, Ovid, Luca the hotel is a tad disappointing - my shower didn't work and the free internet worked only intermittently. It's reasonable value though and has a Chinese resataurant attached which too was 'ok' So if you want a centrally located, not too pricey hotel this is it. Apart from the staff the hotel itself doesn't have that much else to recommend it.

Good location, easy conection from/to airport.Posted Feb 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
All in all everything OK, just couple negative things: showerhose holder was broken, showersink partially blocked, WI-Fi in the room was very poor quality. Receptionist promissed to fix it but never did.

Convenient LocationPosted Sep 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
The Hotel was centrally located, only five minutes walks to nearest shopping areas. Hotel staff were very cooperative. The rates for the room were also cheaper than similar category hotels.

Old man in breakfast room KGB?Posted Sep 11, 2012
Pros: Outside eating area, but too much smoking.
Cons: Smoking during breakfast no matter where you Sat. Plus that KGB old man.
Location: Nice quite area.
The hotel is located in a very nice area where most of the world embassy’s are located so it is mostly quite. My wife is Romanian and she use to live near by. The MGR at the front desk was helpful as well as the other staff and cleaning ladies. THE PROBLEM WAS DURING BREAKFAST. The old man who worked there just watched you taking food like he worked for the KGB or CIA. Was he counting the rolls? There was only 2-3 hot cocoa packs, why the limit? When I asked him for another one, he regrettably gave me another one and said it was the last. The breakfast is a buffet so why the limit? Plus every morning there was so much smoking from the other guests we could never enjoy our food or eat it all, so we had to bring it back up to the room each morning. No matter where you were sitting you smelled & had SMOKE in your face. Why a hotel would not have one side non-smoking is clueless to me. But why smoke when you eat anyway. I also found the music they played during breakfast so obnoxious and unpleasant (1950’s & 1960's blues) as they played the same old boring, depressing, irritating CD over and over again every morning, so I burned them a jazz CD of more relaxing focus on eating music and then after 5 nights we left to another place as we couldn't take it anymore.
