“A great weekend in Dubrovnik”
A great hotel with personal service from the moment you arrive (reception service was 6 stars - well done). With less than 20 rooms, don't expect huge public spaces, but do enjoy a really central location, on a popular square a stones throw from the main street. The old town of Dubrovnik is car free (a joy# and therefore being central is not blighted by traffic noise.
The walled city is not large so was easy to get around. We stayed for 2 nights only, but did everything we wanted, helped by not having to travel from a hotel on the outskirts of town.
Would recommend a walk around the City Walls as soon as you arrive as gives great views and helps you understand the layout. Took us 2 hours as so much to see #small bar there too#.
The cable car up to 'mountain' overlooking town is a must, but we walked down - great views and no crowds - fantastic. Loads of places to eat and bars to drink #great bar to watch the sunset just below the wall on south side#. Boat trips touristy but fun.
Avoid being caught up in the crowds from cruise ships. They arrive early but seem to depart early too, leaving the late afternoons and evening peaceful once again.
Summer months would be very hot, so seems to be a spring or autumn destination. However local beach just outside city walls, and Pucic Palace provides free sunbeds - just show the hotel's beach towel you pick up from reception.
All in all a great weekend destination and I would recommend the Pucic Palace as a great place to stay.
