“Good choice for families”

Very happy with the hotel. The two bedroom suite was even larger and better equipped than expected. The downstairs restaurant had excellent food in the evening and the shopping center with other restaurants and stores was just across the street. We were staying with two small children and appreciated how close we were to Lydgate Park with its sheltered lagoons. The hotel pools were also very comfortable and convenient for the children and the longer one was also good for doing laps. We also appreciated that the hotel staff let us check out of the room a bit later than the standard time so that we could make use of the pools on our last day. Would be happy to stay there again.

“Awesome vacation spot!”

The location of this resort could not have been better. It was about equal distance to the north and the west coasts. There was plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. We absolutely loved having a full kitchen and separate living area. The only downsides were that the restaurant only served dinner and the pool bar closed at sunset, which in December is about 6:00. After a day out and about we would've liked to have had a drink before turning in for the night, unfortunately we weren't able to do that. Also, if you don't pick up your "welcome packet" aka timeshare info. they will call you every morning to remind you about it. Not a big deal since we were usually awake or already gone for the day. Just a bit annoying was all. Other than the phone calls we didn't experience any pressure to attend a timeshare meeting. Overall I would highly recommend this resort and will definately plan on staying there again in the future.

Outdoors or beach
If you go in the winter the beaches in the south are definately the safest and best for snorkeling. Up north the waves are a bit high and the beaches can be a bit dangerous. Lawai Beach was an amazing place to snorkel. It's a tiny beach on the way to Spouting Horn which could easily be missed. I was told by one of the snorkel rental companies to check it out as there are usually sea turtles there. It did not disappoint! Polihale beach on the westside was spectacular. This was the first time I'd been out there. The road to get there is very bumpy and seems to go on forever, but it was well worth the drive once we arrived. We were there at sunset and were able to see a rainbow just above the Napali Coast. It's an image that will stay in my mind for a long time. I only wished we'd gone earlier in the day so we could have spent more time there. It is for sure a can't miss!

“Don't come here with handicap needs”

Make sure that you double and triple check that you are getting the right room and that it has the amenities and handicap needs in place. They will provide a toilet lift and suction handrails but you have to ask for each item specifically, they do not offer those, even when they know that you did not get the handicap accessable room you requested. Grounds are beautiful.

“Great for the Expedia price. Avoid at all costs the hard "Shell Vacations" sell.”

Our one-bedroom condo was fabulous -- very large for two. You can't swim in the ocean but you can take one of their comfy lawn chairs and read on the beach in the shade of ironwood trees. Both bedroom and living room have big views. Do NOT fall for the offer to save money by submitting yourself to a two hour super hard sell for a timeshare. Everything about that experience was horrible.

“Had a great stay”

The resort was great, the staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the full kitchen as we cooked many meals in our room, the washer and dryer were nice, but in need or an upgrade they were not the best. The bar by the pool was a great place to have an adult beverage, and view the wonderful landscape and ocean view. Overall our stay was amazing and we would stay at the resort again. Tasha was amazing in helping us book several trips/activities she was helpful and friendly and was very willing to help us gain discounts on activities on the islands. The biggest downer was the Time Share presentation, took up 2-3 hours of our time and we made it very clear we were not interested in becoming "owners" even after we said not interested they continued to lessen the plan available to try to get us to buy into the program. Overall my wife and I enjoyed our 10th wedding anniversary trip to resort and the island of Kaua'i. Thanks to the staff and Tasha for making our stay the best vacation of our lives!!!

When to go
If you into whale watching winter is the best time, we went in October and had a brief shower each day which we did not mind
Getting around
We rented a car which was the way to go, the folks at Alamo were very helpful and upgraded me to an SUV for just 11.00 a day more.
What to pack
Bring plenty of suntan lotion...the sun is very hot between 11 A.M. and 2 P.M., also bring less clothes then you are thinking you will find you will were mostly shorts and swim items.
Dining
We found a nice place named Eggberts in the Coconut marketplace that was very reasonable for breakfast. Also the shave ice is a must try on the island

“Nice place to stay!!”

Loved the resort, the location was perfect. The full-size kitchen was nice to have as we went grocery shopping and prepared meals as a way to save money. Also, had a washer and dryer in the room which was a nice feature. I had to do some work during the week and had no problems with the wireless internet. One thing to watch out for is that the resort will ask you to go to a timeshare seminar as it is part of some sort of vacation club. We weren't interested in hearing the seminar and had to put up with a few calls the next few days as they tried to get us to attend. Other than that though, had a great time!

“Will return shortly !!”

We thought the cleanliness and accomodations and proximity to the ocean was fantastic. The pool was extremely refreshing and beautiful. Had full barbecue and equiptment which made it very conveinent. Only drawbacks were the time share hard sell and a not so friendly pool bartender. Also the beach is not kind to swimming.

Area recommendations
Po'ipu because of its proximity to Island attractions and snorkling which is important to myself and wife. Did not spend much time at the North end of the Island but heard that the tunnels is a good place to snorkel. The east side of the Island has more hotels and condos @ Wailua and Kapa'a and some shoping and good restaurants. You really can't go wrong on this most beautiful Island.
When to go
Naplai Coast, Wailua River ( kyaking ),Waimea canyon,Po'ipu ( South Shore ) for snorkling, Hanalei Valley Outlook ( North Shore),Kilauea lighthouse ( North Shore ), Koke'e State Park, Kilohana Plantation and much more that we didn't get to see.
What to pack
Pack lightly as all you will really need is shorts and T's or Hawaiian shirts and sandles. Most hotels or condos have laundry facilities. If you pack light you can carry on the plane all of your possesions.
