We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hanalei colony resort. The staff was amazing! I made a mistake booking something, and they worked frantically to make sure that we made it. The shuttle service is an amazing perk that you should definitely take advantage of. I was not expecting the room to not have an air conditioner, but, leaving the Windows/screen door open, made the room completely comfortable. The property landscaping is gorgeous. It’s a great location to get to so many attractions/beaches/shopping/food/etc. If we ever go back to Kauai, we will definitely be booking here again!

An absolutly gorgeous place to stay. Right along the beach with stunning sunrises. It was a wonderful stay, the staff there are so very kind and friendly. If you are looking for a true Kauai experience that is not super comercial then this is the place to be. With that being said there were a few issues warranting the 4 stars. First with there being no A/C (which we LOVED) there are sometimes bugs, and we had the unfortunate experience of having some roaches in the kitchen in the mornings. Only very few and quickly taken care of by us. The other issue was the hot tub being out of order; quite a bummer and not disclosed before our stay, water was luke warm at best. Mattresses a bit firm. Housekeeping was asked to come and unfortunately did not come when asked and we were without towels 1 night. Again, beautiful and great location. I would stay here again despite the few issues. The staff were so sweet and their little coffee shop and boutique are great! We loved our stay it was unforgettable!

Our stay was perfect. The staff at HCR made us feel very welcome and at home. The after hours check in was super easy too! The room (D1) we had overlooked the entire courtyard to the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes and pots and pans. I would say if you are considering preparing a lot of your own food, bring a sharp knife. We also would suggest replacing the dustpan in D1. The room was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The coffee shop was also a real treat. Wonderful people making wonderful coffee and lots of beautiful artwork to peruse as well. We sampled the pool, hot tub, the coffee house, the secret restaurant that we will never forget. It was truly an unforgettable experience. The staff on the resort were all kind, welcoming and gracious with their time. The beach….. it was beautiful the entire time. Whether it was raining and windy or warm and sunny, everyday the beach delivered. We cannot wait to go back!! Thank you HCR!!

Beautiful location and wonderful staff. Was disappointed to pay a resort fee when the restaurant and bar were closed for renovations, the hot tub jets were not working, and the shuttle was out of service 2 of the 4 days we were there. The location was a little remote but downtown Hanalei is not too far and worth the drive. Princeville is not a bad drive either to visit. Would definitely stay again. Loved the resident cat, Leo.

I really fell for this place! It’s rustic and quaint and a little rough around the edges in a way that gives it a quirky charm that is uniquely its own. My best photos from my trip were all taken at the hotel on their insanely beautiful beach that honestly feels like a private beach. I began every morning sitting under the stars watching the sun come up. Tunnel beach is walkable from the hotel and has a STUNNING sunset. It’s removed from the town in a way that makes it feel remote, but is close enough to get into town to shop or eat. I will miss this place a lot and will absolutely be back. We left this morning for Maui where we’re staying at a resort that is three times the price and we’d SO much rather be back at Hanalei Colony Resort.

Very kind people with a great location right on the water with a snorkeling beach a 3 minute walk along the sand to an opening in the coral. Beautiful fish we even saw a sea turtle in the water with us. My family especially appreciated the heated pool.

Our 2 Rooms were very outdated, restaurant closed so being located so far from town you really noticed that. Location beautiful, renovated pool is gorgeous, office staff helpful, made arriving at midnight convenient with a lockbox. Coffee shop really nice feature to have, could use more snack or small meal options while restaurant closed. Walking distance to the state park and famous trail but guests should be made aware that to enter that park a permit must be purchased 30 days in advance. It’s why we chose this location so we were heartbroken to learn we couldn’t hike there.

Staff kept giving inconsistent responses. Offered to help but never did. Mat for front door requested at beginning of stay; requested again mid stay. Never delivered (I watched front desk person write it down). Housekeeping lack-luster. One clean up for a 6-night stay is insufficient. Bath towels replenished only once during a 6-night stay. No restaurant on site per listed amenities. No yoga on site per listed amenities. Except for the shuttle service (shuttle staff who were exceptional), no amenities at all for a "resort". Repeated line from front desk staff was, "we are a resort not a hotel" as if this excused the lack of amenities. Booked the highest category room for 3 people and paid extra for that person, and yet the room assigned was the only room (out of 4 booked by our group, in lower categories) that didn't have a second shower. Listed as a VIP hotel but no welcome VIP drink, no offer offer of early or late checkout. Any inconsistencies we identified, the staff said was Expedia's fault not theirs. SHOULD NOT BE LISTED AS A VIP PROPERTY!!!

Hanalei es espectacular. El hotel es mas un airbnb "self-service" q un resort/hotel. No tiene AC y hay q sacar la basura personalmente y el servicio de limpieza es cada 3/4 dias. El hotel tiene mucho sabor local y hay areas que tienen unas vistas increíbles. No hay restaurante. Premium Ocenview resultó ser una habitación en la parte de atras ya que no era Oceanfront...definitivamente eso no lo esperaba. La pasamos muy bien y esta muy cerca de una playas espectaculares!
