Not bad

Everything about this hotel was great but the bathroom floor was not clean and a bit to be desired. Other than that it was fine.

Pros: Food was excellent. Hotel room was well presented and staff efficient and friendly.
Excellent stay. No complaints. Look forward to returning one day and sitting in front of the open fires with a glass of red wine..

Perfect location, great room, lovely staff!

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay to explore St. Andrews and the eastern coast. Very cozy inn with a wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Our room was clean, bright, and comfy. Looked exactly like the pictures, so no surprises! Food was excellent. Service was fast at breakfast, but a little slower for dinner. Not a complaint...just an observation. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Let down

Pros: Staff were friendly. Great breakfast. Lovely big bed.
Cons: Upgrade windows, air con, get rid of gravel driveway, get rid of seating area outside peoples windows.
Location: In between Leven and St Andrews. Nothing at all within walking distance. Can't go for a walk due to being on a very fast and busy main road.
Not worth the money. We got a room which was on the pathway leading to reception. It was very noisy. Bathroom window was jammed shut and main windows did not open wide enough so very stuffy on a hot day. Found it very noisy when trying to sleep because there was an outdoor seating area beside our room, also heard people coming and going until late late evening due to the gravel car park and coming and going to hotel bar. Only tiny tv in room or hotel bar for entertainment. Not a place for children or teenagers.

The central location was perfect for our tour of the Neuk of Fife. Lovely choice for breakfast. Roomy shower room, comfy bed, friendly staff. We will be back.

Stayed two nights during Grad week

Pros: Comfy bed, nice breakfast, wifi.
Cons: Hotel is looking tired and is overdue a lick of paint and upgrading.
Location: A few miles out of St. Andrews so would advise using own car. St. Andrews is a lovely place to visit. Also visit Anstruther for the fish and chips!
Had stayed here before and accommodated relatives here in the past, but this time we were not impressed. We arrived in pouring rain and 10 degC temp, in June! The rooms are accessed from outside but no umbrellas were available in reception so we were soaked when we got to the room. The room had no heating on so was very cold. The lady that showed us the room switched on the water heater and advised that there would be hot water in "about an hour". Looking around the room, it was sparsly furnished, a school style metal framed chair, 1980s square CRT TV, chipped lamp shade, dirty marked walls, grubby looking cover on the settee/extra bed, peeling paint on the radiator and around bathroom window, marked bath surround. I located the radiator valve and turned it on to warm the room. The valve to the bathroom radiator had no effect and the bathroom remained cold. The duvet was folded at the bottom of the bed, which we unrolled before climbing in. Very comfy bed, but seemed odd to have to prepare things oneself. The outside of the hotel was also suffering from dirty looking walls and peeling paint. A notice at reception advertised an evening of music, a few days previously! The breakfast was great and went a long way to making up for our cold and damp arrival. The staff at breakfast were charming. I requested to have the settee cover changed, which was promised by the lady at reception but didn't actually happen as it still looked grubby when we returned for the second evening.
