great customer service but a little bit dated

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: Beds were extremely comfortable and the air con was quiet so I got a really good nights sleep.
Cons: Cocktails were disappointing, they need to send a member of staff to bar school to make even the most basic cocktails. Breakfast only til 10am!
Location: Good location on the beach, within easy reach of bars and restaurants. Supermarket, bar etc right across the road. Bus stop right outside.
Arrived late at night to find I had been placed in a room on the lower ground floor (rooms beginning with zero) which included an extremely steep incline down a long passageway. I had requested a room near lift as I have problems walking. They told me they had not received my email - but they had not checked for this either. They moved me from the next day to a much more appropriate position. Mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep every night I was there! Breakfast is extensive, possibly too extensive but lacking in some areas. They had all the usual things plus lots of cake, selections of cheeses and other items but I could only find mini croissants, no other pastries. Very strict on time for breakfast and they start clearing at a minute past 10am. I saw several people being turned away. Pool area is nice, they have sun beds around the two pools, on the grass and also on the beach. Plenty of room but still some people found the need to reserve beds with towels and then not appear for hours on end. Pool area was incredibly clean and well kept. Good range of snacks, ice creams and food on offer from the restaurants and snack bars. Some of the beds are a little out of shape and hurt your back when you lie on them, quite a problem for myself with a bad back problem. They need to invest some money in replacing the furniture that is worn out and out dated especially around the pool and the lobby area.

Beach front hotel

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: See comments above.
Cons: Perhaps free wi-fi and room safe in the standard rooms as well as the suites and superior rooms. But little else can be improved upon.
Location: On the beach, several restaurants within 10 min walk. Frequent, cheap bus service to the harbour which is 25-30 min walk offering more choice.
Our fourth stay at the Athena Beach. All the staff work hard to attend to your every need. This is how a hotel should be run. Nothing is too much trouble with any minor faults sorted out quickly without fuss - one evening we noticed water dripping into our bathroom from upstairs, someone arrived to fix it within 10 minutes!

Great hotel to relax and chill

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Very clean, lovely sun lounges. Breakfast! Water jugs in reception! Quiet.
Cons: The toilet doesn't flush around 8am... for about 30min.Staff in the outdoor bars could be a bit nicer.
Location: 15min walk to a lovely chapel by the sea or 20min in the other direction and you get to the harbour and beyond. 10min walk to a bicycle rental place.
I went to Cyprus on my own at the end of Aug. Prepare for temperatures around 40 degrees and humidity but also a great suntan. The prearranged transfer was very pleasant: just me on the way there and a minibus on the way back. The hotel was great: big, air conditioned, impressive lobby. Swift check in and I was given a sea view room as requested. Really spacious, clean, lovely bathrobe, beach towels, TV, balcony and air condition. Tea/coffee. Breakfast was out of this world: there is nothing you can think of that is not there. You can eat inside or at one of the tables by the pool. Great facilities: massive pool, 2 outdoor Jacuzzis, water slide, indoor pool, small gym, bars and restaurants. Lovely sun lounges by the pool, on the beach or on the grass strip in between. Many families with kids, couples but no rowdy teenagers. Very quiet, no music blasting at the pools. 15min walk to a lovely chapel by the sea or 20min in the other direction and you get to the harbour and beyond. 10min walk to a bicycle rental place. Many restaurants and bars close by. 24hr doctor service opposite. 5min walk to 2 agencies selling jeep safaris, boat trips etc. No noisy clubs nearby.

Lovely hotel

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Location, facilites, food and staff.
Cons: Evening entertainment.
This was our second visit to the hotel and the standard of facilities and food we very good. The hotel and pool areas were spacious and clean, even in height season sun beds were available. The hotel is a lovely location being near the sea there is a constant breeze. A lovey walk to Paphos taking around half an hour and a lovely walk in opposite direction to Cyprus sunset point and recently built church. Food was good, beautifully presented and always a variety available. Staff were welcoming and pleasant at all times. We had a standard land view which was fine for our requirements as we did not spend any length on time in the room ourselves so the view was not an issue. Only area for improvement was the standard of evening entertainment it was often not fitting to the type of clients visiting the hotel.

Very welcoming staff and helpful. This was myv

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: I liked the breakfast, I managed to have a 3 course and HEALTHY breakfast every morning.
Location: Location about a 30 minute leisurely walk into Paphos harbour and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Bus service every 10 mins and costs £1.50.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. This was my second visit within 5 weeks and I hope to be back again.

Well located hotel & activities but....

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Excellent location, the hotel has lots of activities for all age groups, concierge and bell boys were very helpful & internet per day is cheap
Cons: - get a digital safe system and don't charge guests for it - allow for more than 1 key per room - have a talk to cleaning service
Location: - Located near / on the beach - near their famous water park - close to all the highly rated restaurnts
The hotel location is excellent as was the activities on offer. However, we were disappointed with quite a few things that are normally part and parcel of a 4 to 5 star hotel: - room service / cleaning was terrible. We found our first day container of rice at the time of leaving under our bed (3 days later) - it was just about to start smelling. Covers were never replaced, nor towels, cups and glasses were not replaced let alone cleaned - when we asked for something to be done, room service staff were always upset. - you have to pay for the safe key - we paid for a sea view and ended up getting a very small partial view that too covered by palm trees - this was finally rectified but the inconvenience of unpacking / packing and doing it quick so they can rent the room to someone else meant that we missed a show we were supposed to go on that day. - food was average - reception attitude was indifferent. - paid internet speed was horrible - only one key given to entire family - ac does not stay on when you leave the room so after coming back from the heat, its hot in the room too for bout 20 mins

Athena beach hotel

Posted Aug 4, 2014
We went to the hotel in July and we enjoyed our stay. It is a luxury hotel and quiet pricy esp. If you want to go for the full board it will cost you a fortune. Weather was really hot over there in July . The outdoor swimming pools were all hot. The indor one was cool. I wanted to go inthe indoor jacuzzi which never happened as there was a bunch of screaming children jumping in and out of it constantly so I had to give up. The hotel has good amount of sun beds but the best ones get taken early. They will also supply you will beach towels. The beach bar is less or more okay. Although you should stay away from the local beer - Keo - it's pretty bad and tastes funny. If you lucky enough you might be able to get Carlsberg but make sure you insist cause they would pretty much give you anything without getting into trouble to ask you what beer you actually want. Also in most restaurants you will see another local beer called -Leon- avoid it by all means as it is even worse than the first one I mentioned- very flat and unpleasant . Breakfast inthe hotel is very good and you can pretty much get anything you wish for including pancakes yumm.. etc. etc. but make sure you go to the breakfast room cause breakfast inthe room is only continental (bread and butter) and for anything else you will have to pay. Food outside @the beach bar good , small choice but very very tasty fresh cooked. We perhaps would go back or try one of the other hotels from the group.

Nice beachs

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: the food and staff were great.
Cons: the pictures on the expedia website were better that actually bedroom. And we requested and paid for a sea view and they gave us a partially sea view
Location: there is not mich do to it nearby. The hotel could offer a daily car to go to city.
The hotel staff were great the only bad experience it was about the bed. We were in honeymoon so they set 2 singlebeds to make as a double bed so we had this hole on the middle of the bed and i had requested a king bed because on the website we could choose. Double bed it is not 2 single beds together. This was very upsetting for us.

Positioned on the beach

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: The proximity of the hotel was great.
Cons: The entertainment was poor.
Location: Bars, restaurants nearby. Taxi ride into Paphos.
We really enjoyed the holiday. Couldn't fault the staff, they were all very helpful and there was always someone round if you needed something.
