Queenstown, New Zealand Hotel Rooms at the Independent

Excellent hostel with great staff and manager. Comfortable room and good facilities. Staff very helpful at all times. Would recommend.

It was an awesome quiet place. Made us feel very at home. We enjoyed our stay there a lot. Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. Very close to the centre of Arrowtown and also only about 15 mins away from Queenstown. Would stay there again :)

This was an amazing place to stay, it was a beautiful flat with stunning views across the lake and mountains. Staying here made the last four days of our holiday in New Zealand very special and we would definitely like to come back. Queenstown is a great place so much to see and do, we found everyone so helpful and all the things we did were first class.

Managers are always available to help patrons plan their day. Location is some 10-12 minutes walk from the town centre which includes an incline. But public buses are available to town centre every 15 minutes for those who wish to avoid the incline. We had a very enjoyable stay at this B & B

I read the reviews and liked the look of these apartments. We were not disappointed at all in fact loved the space and warmth of this place. It is value for money with gorgeous views when you relax by the fire with a glass of Otago Pinot. We will come back as we love Arrowtown and Saffron and would not hesitate to book here again.

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment for 4 nights at the very start of our trip on the South Island. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable on the local area and the check-in and check-out process was easy. Our room was pleasant, a good size and had excellent cooking facilities and great views through the fully glass fronted lounge and bedroom areas. We had free wi-fi access and this was pretty quick, along with a good selection of TV channels. It's a couple of km's out of town which definetly makes it more peaceful (so was a bonus for us) but if you are planning on self-catering you are probably best with a car as the main supermarket is the other side of town.

We loved everything apart from we never met any of the owners or staff. When we arrived, a note told us which apartment we were in & the key was in the door. No one checked to verify who we were throughout the whole weekend & no one bothered to check us out- we had to just leave the key in the door. Other minor point- we didn't like the wooden slats which let lots of light in compared to curtains.

My max ratings speak for themselves. What doesn't is a unique experience upon arrival and during our stay. We were late arriving from a long drive to Queenstown, and we had to make and early morning appointment the following day for a tour to Milford Sound (a must see, by the way). That meant we'd miss breakfast the following morning. However, when we got to our room, proprietors Donald and Jillian had prepared our breakfast on a large tray with bread, yogurt, two cereals, cookies, yogurt and milk. Two days later we had to depart for the Doubtful Sound tour (Donald's favorite, and he's right). Returning from dinner the night before the tour, the full tray was there again. This is more like a home that a hotel. When we departed, both dropped whatever they were doing and rushed to the foyer to bid us adieu. Thanks Browns for a memorable experience!
