St. Thomas and St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel Rooms at the Independent

Virgin Islands Campground was great! Deborah greeted us with rum punch and Sean showed us around the grounds (shared bathroom and kitchen). Our cabin was perfect! Clean, private, with beach towels, bath towels, fresh linens and flowers. The toilets are a little to get used to but the campground is very eco-friendly and again, very clean and well maintained! Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided too! Kitchen is a great place to interact with the other guests, everyone staying there while we were were super friendly and respectful of food, space and privacy. Water Island itself is not for everyone but it is EXACTLY what I was looking for- a quiet peaceful place to kick back in nature- lay on the beach, do some snorkeling, explore the grounds, eat some amazing fish tacos at Heidi's and go to bed early. 5 days here and I feel totally energized and at peace!

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Marbella. Leah and Gunnar were very accommodating and make everything very easy for our first stay on the island. I loved the location - great views! The only reason why Marbella didn't get 5 stars across the board was because our room (Mango Room) was smaller than we anticipated. It worked well enough for our needs, however the bed wasn't terribly comfortable. Other than that - we had a great time, the price was right, and we'd definitely stay there again (just maybe in one of the other rooms)!

The resort exceeded my expectations. Great location, walking distance to ferry, restaurants and shopping. Staff was friendly and responsive. Accommodation were beautiful.

When we got off the ferry we had a ride awaiting to take us to the hotel. We were escorted to our studio room and there was a complimentary bottle of rum with two cokes waiting for us. Washer and dryer in the room was nice to have as well. The location was awesome, within walking distance of downtown which had lots of bars with live music and restaurants to choose from. There are also free drinks at the bar on Thursday nights here. If you rent a jeep from here you have your own parking spot. I highly recommend renting a jeep from here it was extremely convenient. Nice view of Cruz bay. Also, low key waters sports is right by the hotel which was extremely nice to rent snorkel gear from. We were both extremely happy staying here and will likely stay here again.

just like family, big political celebration next door so the band was loud till 1 am, but not the hotel's fault. Also a very nice continental breakfast. Would definately stay there again.

Caneel Bay Resort is the most amazing place I have ever stayed. I have visited four times so far, and am now planning my next trip. Everything about this place is true paradise. Go now!

all the staff were so nice, especially the mgr. and assistant mgr! such a laid back enviroment and comfortable. they even booked a trip for us that was unavailable to tourists. they were always available for any thing we needed or just wanting to talk. My wife and I loved the quaint inn and we could walk to any place we wanted to go! If you want the Hilton, this is not your place, but if you want quiet, cute and excellant care, plus local flair this is right up your alley!!

Beautiful resort on the beach. One bedroom condo with appliances and granite countertops. Close to restaurant and nice, small outdoor bar. Service available on beach. Dive shop on site. Very quiet part to St. Thomas. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back and are currently looking into buying a condo there. Very quiet cove that is a marine sanctuary.

Of course this type of vacation is not for everybody, but for those that want something different, it is a great experience. If you are unsure about this type of lodging, do not try it. This is for the person that knows they want to create a unique memory for their family, and goes with a positive attitude.

Helen and Jun are great hosts. The room is adequate and reasonably priced. Property is simple and neat with nice outdoor areas by the room. Noisy location but quite in the room and great AC. Breakfast was healthy/good and ride to St. Thomas Airport was fun and half the cab fare. Not a hotel but more like staying at a nice person's home.
