Overall great experiencePosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: I liked the small size, the large nice rooms and the infinity pool.
Cons: more polite staff and more upfront about what problems there are.
Location: The location was excellent. Right on the water so you could go to the pool, beach, water sports etc. We even went horseback riding on the beach!!
This hotel is wonderful. Its small and well located. The pool is lovely. Its not a typical hotel in that the rooms are actually condos with the hotel rents out for the owners. So the rooms come with all sorts of condo finishes like high end Viking appliances and whirlpool bath. Very nice. We had a lovely time there. I have a five year old and a 9 month old and the infinity pool was perfect for my little ones to splash around in. All that said I did have a few complaints. The biggest was that the fine dining restaurant in the hotel was closed for renovation. That in itself was not a problem as there are plenty of other hotels within walking distance with restaurants but I would have appreciated if they had mentioned that on arrival as we went grocery shopping and I would have shopped differently had a I known the only in hotel dining option was the poolside grill. The other problem we had was that the phones in our room and some of the lights were not working (they had had a storm and it had affected phones and power). Finally most of the staff was very accommodating and nice but there was one gentleman working at the poolside grill that was extremely rude. Our first day arriving was a bit hectic as we are traveling with two small children. Hungry we went to the grill and when we asked to see a menu the guy rolled his eyes at us. He seemed so aggravated to have deal with serving us food. We were not rude to him at all, I could not understand why all the attitude.

Beautiful hotel right on the beachPosted Jul 6, 2013
Pros: The Somerset has only about 50 units so it is a smaller resort, which is nice. You get to know the staff, who are all very friendly and helpful.
Cons: there is a fee to use water sports equipment, which we didn't find out until we were on the beach
Location: lots of great restaurants within walking distance along the beach, easy bike ride to the Salt Mills shops
The villa was beautifully appointed. The kitchen had high end appliances and was fully stocked. Housekeeping was excellent--the whole villa was thoroughly cleaned every day.

Luxurious condo on Grace Bay. Great locationPosted Jun 24, 2013
The resort is beautiful. We went in June, so it wasn't very busy. Nicely kept grounds, high end finishes in the condo (Cottage 10), very spacious. Lounge chairs at pool were so comfy, and there were plenty of chaise lounges, umbrellas & cabanas at the beach. But again, we went during the off season. Continental breakfast is included. (We were given a menu at breakfast that showed $15 for continental breakfast, but they don't charge it to guests of the resort. Pool restaurant was very good and, for Turks & Caicos prices, not terribly expensive. We wish it stayed open later. We never ate at Soleil, the other restaurant. Can walk to other restaurants by walking on the beach, which seemed very safe. Can also walk to downtown by walking on the beach and cutting through one of the resorts. There is also decent snorkeling at Coral Gardens, which is a 20 minute walk on the beach. The Somerset provides snorkeling equipment, and also has paddle boards and kayaks. I'd definitely recommend the Somerset.

Nice property in the center of grace bay beach.Posted Jun 10, 2013
Cons: We had an issue with the wifi in the room that we never got resolved, But wifi is available on the rest of the property.
Location: There are several other good restaurants within walking distance and a shopping area that is a 20 minute walk.
The staff and the service was good, the grounds are well maintained . The pool area is beautiful and the beach is pristine. The food is very good in the restaurant and the pool bar as well.

Family Vacation SpotPosted Feb 4, 2013
Pros: Beautiful property, clean spacious rooms, great staff.
Cons: The restaurant and pool bar area was closed during our stay. Would have liked to have food by the pool. Not sure what the problem was. Pool was cold.
Location: Perfect spot on the most beautiful beach. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.
We just returned from our 10 day stay at The Somerset and loved it! This was our family vacation with our 4 children ages 10, 8, 6 and 3. We had a 2 bedroom ocean view suite with stunning views of the ocean and the property. The hotel is gorgeous and probably the most beautiful compared to those around it. The grounds are immaculate and the pool area perfect. The pool was cold but it didn't bother the kids! Our room was clean, homey and comfortable. This is a very quiet hotel and many days we were the only ones at the pool or beach. It was like our private escape in paradise! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Restaurants are close by with just a short walk on the beach. Breakfast every day at the pool area was nice. The town area with shops and restaurants is even within walking distance. Bikes are also available. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

great beach and pool access, fabulous roomsPosted Jan 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay. The beach and pool area are very nice. We were a bit disappointed in the lack of food and beverage service, we were expecting service more like a hotel vs condo rental, but there are several alternatives within walking distance. The Concierge service was very helpful in making our day trip reservations and hooking us up with a great taxi driver that did an outstanding 1/2 day tour of the island. Given the price of the property charging for use of bicycles seemed silly. Our 2 bedroom suite with water view was beautiful, contained upscale finishes and appliances. The twice daily maid service was exceptional and the hotel staff was very friendly. A general note on visiting the island - take plenty of small bills - tipping taxi service is expected and getting change can sometimes be a problem?!?

Very DisappointedPosted Oct 23, 2012
Pros: The rooms are spacious and the staff try very hard
Cons: Very poor communication from management about the problems - they should notify guests about pool construction, internet being down, etc.
Location: Nice enough - but there are far nicer properties on the beach with much better amenities-at the same or better pricing. We wouldn't stay here again.
We had a number of serious disappointments with out stay at the Somerset. First of all, we had requested as high a floor as possible for our oceanfront 1 bedroom suite - when we arrived we were put on the 2nd floor - only after we complained were we then moved to a unit 1 floor up on the 3rd floor - which had obviously been available all along, which begs the question why we weren't put there to start with. Secondly, there were absolutely no amenities open at the hotel - the main pool was under construction (which we were not notified about prior to our arrival), there were no restaurants open on the propery - no snack bar available - nowhere that you could even get a cold drink. It was basically a condo building, not a resort. When we arrived, the hot water taps all spewed out brown water - even after the maintenance staff ran the water for almost an hour and pronounced it fine - we still had brown water from the hot water taps the balance of the trip. We were never able to use the bathtub. Internet service in the rooms worked for the first day of our 5 day trip - then completely shut off with no notification or warning. To get internet access we had to go to the front desk area for the balance of our trip. Overall, we were very, very disappointed with our experience at the Somerset. The staff tried very, very hard and were very polite and friendly - but unfortunately there was nothing they could really do when management had tied their hands.

Friendly Service, Great for FamiliesPosted Apr 19, 2012
Pros: Amazing beach and great kids activities.
Cons: Slow service and mediocre food.
Location: The location is good.
Overall we had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was genuinely very friendly, but not in a hurry either. Don't expect speedy service. They have a kids club that does fun and creative projects with the kids a couple times a day. Our kids (10, 8, 6, and 4) loved it. They also had movie night for the kids which they loved as well. It allowed us adults to have some free time which was very nice. The hotels food is fine. The beach is amazingly perfect!
