Detroit nice place to visit.

This hotel had spacious rooms, freindly staff, great breakfast. The area surrounding this palce had enough eatery’s and it was away from the crowded area’s off downtown but close enough to get to.

Hawthorn Suites in Southfield, MI

The hotel conditions were as nice as they were when it was a Residence Inn. The only complaint that my husband and I had was there were no washcloths in the room. We did not realize that they were missing until bedtime so we just made do with the hand towels. I am sure that if we had called the front desk, they would have rectified the problem.

Do Yourself a Favor and DON’T STAY HERE!

The room is about what you would expect for the price and the staff is friendly...EXCEPT FOR THE GENERAL MANAGER. If you need the Internet, don’t stay here. If you want to be treated poorly, then take a chance. The general manager will ignore your concerns and is VERY RUDE. BE ADVISED, STAYING HERE IS A MISTAKE!

A Good Time Despite

My hotel stay was very nice. We had a serious incident on Saturday night due to a bunch of teenagers invading the grounds after homecoming. It was very inconvenient and really bothersome. However, the hotel was very gracious in trying to help solve the problem and in refunding my money for that one night’s stay. While I wasn none too pleased with that evening, I understand that sometimes things happen. Hawthorne Suites were very accommadating in light of the situation.

Not sure I would go back to this hotel..

First off to many young kids staying there and making lots of noise. Second off someone threw a bag of garbage by the room door and when we went to go to our room there was a skunk at the door and we were unable to get in. We went to the desk and the clerk could not find maintenance or security and it took about an hour before we could get in our room. The picture showed us a fireplace in our room but there was no fireplace. The free breakfast was more then I anticipated and was very good. The room was very clean. If iot wasn’t for the skunk and screaming teenagers we would probably stay there again.

Would rather pay a bit more to receive much more

Business dealings required me to stay in the greater Southfield area two consecutive weeks with a short return to Chicago in between. The first stay was at Hawthorn, the second at the Holiday Inn run Candlewood Suites. There is no comparison. No fruit flies hovering around the sink and other kitchen areas at Candlewood. For very few extra dollars, why not stay at a proven brand with all the thoughtful Holiday Inn organization touches? Also, the front desk people are much more personable and helpful at Candlewood. Once again, no comparison.

Needs Some Updating

Our room was spacious, actually it seemed to be a former Town House or apartment. A two bedroom unit with a complete kitchen, a living room with fireplace, a second bedroom in a loft. Some things are in disrepair and the whole unit needs updating. The room was fairly clean, although I did find a toy from a former occupant under a coffee table. There were no instructions for contacting the front desk, so I hand to leave my room (walk in the rain) to go to the desk and get the internet access code. Overall a little disappointing.

If you’re just going to sleep here, it’s a little overkill, but the kids will love the seperate bedroom.

Very clean the staff was great from the time we arrived till the very end. I wish we would have stayed longer.

Good, convenient and large

Roomy, very convenient for long stays where you may want to cook some meals instead of eating out all of the time. The continental breakfast is not the greatest quality - but it is included in the room rate.

Empress Garden’s Chineese restaurant nearby is very good.

Interesting place

Our visit to the city was to attend a funeral and the weekend we were at this property there was a gathering of bikers, a family reunion, and a church group. Some nights were quite noisey and the "breakfast" left a lot to be desired.

Convienent, but may present some interesting unscheduled events to disturb your stay

Never again!!

Stayed there for a week from Sunday to Sunday. Sheets on bed not changed until Wednesday. Had to go to front office to get my own towels. Rugs never vaccummed my entire stay. Parties at night conducted by young people,loud noice to wee hours of morning. But upon checking in, I was made to sign a form that I will not be having parties in my suite!! Hmmmmm. .go figure!! Will never stay there again

Good for an extended stay hotel.

Had some maintenance isssues with closet doors not hung and the exhaust fan was LOUD. Also the check-in was delayed by an hour because rooms were not ready. For an overnight stay it was a very clean and roomy. Bed was very comfortable.

Not impressed

The hotel wa good enough for a two nite stay, but I would not stay there a week. While there, I was kept awoke one nite by noisy guest, I was on the first floor. The biggest complaint my family had was your continental breakfast. It was not so good.

Nice and cozy.

The rooms were comfortable. This was a family trip, so the free breakfast and full kitchen helped out alot. The staff was not the friendliest, but it was okay. Good value for the price. I probably would stay here again.

Pleased With Our Stay

We were in Detroit for a funeral. The hotel staff as very friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was with the toilet stopping up. This was taken care of pretty quickly. The front desk staff were very apologetic for the inconvenience.

The suprise of Southfield!

I was visiting relatives for a somber visit and needed a reasonable price place to stay Usually a cheap hotel in this area of Michigan can be scary! Everything here was geared for the business person. Breakfast was very good the rooms were spacious, and the service at the front desk was polite. This is a yearly visit for me, so I will be staying there again!

Detroit stay

i have chosen this hotel the last 3 times i visited Detroit/Southfield and had good experiences on all trips.

Satisfactory hotel

I was in Metro Detroit for a four day business trip. I’m young so my standards are different. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the room was extremely comfortable. They were repaving the parking lot and didn’t give any notice when you checked in so when we returned late at night, we had to find somewhere else to park. None of the three workout machines worked. We never attended breakfast even though we were given meal tickets. Yes, I would stay there again because it is in a great location right off the highway,the beds were very comfortable and the price was good.

Not What I Expected

The first thing I noticed was , that the bed was not a queen size, and it was not very comfortable. There was a lot of young people staying there, and they were quite noisy. They were breaking glass bottles in the parking lot by my room. I would not recommend this hotel to a more mature person.

Total Comfort

The hotel staff were wonderful and friendly. And for the price, the room was outstanding! There was a nice little sitting room and fireplace when I entered the door, and the kitchen was complete with microwave and dishes. I could have moved in and been comfortable if only I didn’t have to get back to work.......I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was very nice, the only exception is that the swimming pool could have been with less debrie

If the hotel would give some attention to a couple of details it would make this a nice place to stay, especially for the price. The staff was pleasant, the breakfast was good, however, it was rather dirty and housekeeping is apparently just not doing their job. We had no soap in our room. There was a open partially filled Pepsi bottle on the railing outside our room. It stayed there our entire visit. We asked for a crib but they never found the one they said was available so we never got one. If they would make a better effort in cleaning and making sure rooms were stocked properly it would have been a different experience. Rooms were very spacious with a stove, fridge, microwave and a separate living area.

My wife and I had an excellent stay and have recommended the hotel to our friends both there and here in Georgia.
